When they reached the land, the workers had already begun to refill the land. Seokjin, Namjoon and Yoongi went straight to Mew. Seokjin was wearing a grey three-piece suit and had styled his hair with a side parting with the help of hair products Namjoon had. Namjoon was initially embarrassed about giving them to Seokjin, but Seokjin eased it up saying that anything would work for him. Namjoon on the other hand wore a white shirt, a tie and dress pants. He also styles his hair professionally. Both of them knew that the results were not out yet, but who would question the chairman about his decision.
"Oh. You are here." Mew turned back. "I told them to refill the sand so that they can start the construction."
Seokjin patted his shoulder, "Good job. We found the gold."
Mew was surprised, "Where is it?"
Seokjin looked around, "Is there a water resource nearby?"
"Yeah." Mew turned back and pointed towards the south, "There is a huge water tank. I checked it though. It is filled with water."
Seokjin hummed and looked at Yoongi, "Make arrangements to empty it."
Yoongi nodded and went away to make some phone calls. In about an hour, the tank was empty. Seokjin peeked inside but only found a flat surface underneath. He sighed, disappointed. The numbers could have meant something different. But what?
"Get me a crane, Tu."
Seokjin looked back when he heard Mew order his secretary something. "What will you do with a crane?"
Mew smirked, "Patience."
When the crane came, he explained something to the operator and the operator immediately went to work. The operator hooked the end to something and pulled. There were several gasps as the bottom opened and there were stacks of gold. They were a little dirty, but no one was really bothered about that. Mew looked at Seokjin and smiled, "Congratulations. We found it."
Seokjin smiled, "Yeah, we found it."
Both of them looked at Namjoon. Namjoon was looking at the gold with a longing expression. The reason why his parents died, the reason why he had to live a life so painful was right in front of his eyes. He didn't know what he was supposed to feel. Was he supposed to hate the gold, was he supposed to hate the land? He came out of the thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
Seokjin smiled sadly, "Are you okay?"
Namjoo shrugged, "I don't know. But I guess I am glad that you are the one who found it."
Seokjin patted the side of Namjoon's head, "I remember my promise, Joon-ah. I won't let you down."
Namjoon nodded, "I know." He smiled softly, "I trust you."
Their happy bubble was soon broken as Tu interrupted them, "I am sorry, kha. But the police commissioner is coming this way."
Mew nodded and looked at the crane. As he signalled something with his hand, the operator lowered the lid, hiding the gold again. Seokjin looked at Yoongi, "Extract the gold at night." Yoongi nodded but before he could say something, they saw the car coming toward them. Seokjin looked at the group, "We didn't find anything. This project was a complete loss. Got it?"
Everyone nodded.
"Seokjin-shi..." The commissioner went near the group, "I heard you completed the digging process." He looked at the pit and then around the land, but didn't find anything and there was a satisfying grin on his face.
Seokjin gave him his trained professional smile, "Of course. We will be laying the foundation stone soon."
The commissioner was a lean man in his 50s with a height shorter than Seokjin. He was wearing the uniform but it looked a bit off on him. Mew chuckled thinking that even if one more medal was stuck to his uniform, he would fall to the ground, face down. He turned to share the same with Namjoon but he immediately furrowed his brow, "What happened?" He whispered when he saw Namjoon shaking like a dry leaf. When Namjoon didn't answer, he held him by his elbow and took him to a safe distance from the group, "Namjoon, what happened?"
