Hayat POV
Today was Tuesday. I came home Monday morning, and stayed with my parents and my brother. Serkan was also in the city so he stopped by that day. There I broke the news of meeting Murat and planning to get back in contact with my two best friends. They were supportive when I promised them that no one will be able to hurt me this time. After mom and dad went to sleep, I told Serkan and Cihangir about Murat's side of those events. They also found the situation fishy as if I was set up. Since I was tired and Serkan had to fly out of the city on Tuesday i.e. today, we all went to sleep. After dropping Serkan to the airport, I decided to call Murat to ask him to meet me tomorrow at my house. But then I realized that I would have to stop at his company Sarte since I don't have his number or mail.
I quickly grabbed a scarf from my luggage that was still in the car and wrapped it around and wore huge sunglasses to hide my face. I didn't want Kerem to ruin the surprise if he accidentally sees me in the company. I was stopped at the front desk where according to my instruction, they phoned Murat's office and said that 'a friend from Vancouver's fashion show wanted to meet you.' I was given the permission to enter and was guided to the elevator.
THE ELEVATOR. I was remembering all my moments that I shared with Murat in this elevator till a loud DING broke my thoughts. Avoiding any further interaction I went straight to his cabin. I barged in when I didn't receive any response after knocking the door. To my surprise it was empty. Murat isn't here? So who approved my entry?
I decided to leave a note with my number on his desk. While I was doing that, I heard the door open. I was expecting Murat so without turning around, I said "So finally Mr. Sarsilmaz is here. I wondered where you were gone. Anyways, I came here to tell you that.....TUVAL"
I turned around to see a dumbfounded Tuval staring at me as if she had seen a ghost. I had to shake her physically to make sure she was fine. And she bear hugged me. I finally had her shushed when I promised her I would explain everything. I told her I met Murat at the fashion show. And agreed to come down to surprise Ipek since she was getting married. I wanted to discuss the details about the surprise but I realized I didn't have his number. So I had to risk coming here. "Is Kerem here? Where is Murat?" I asked at the end.
"Kerem has taken a half day. So he isn't in the company. Murat went to meet property agent to sell his house because the company is in financial trouble." She answered. "You mean Sarsilmaz house? " "No, I mean his own house where we visited him multiple times." she said. "Why would he do that? Why would he sell his own house when the company is in trouble" I asked not understanding his logic. "I know right? I'm trying to convince him not to. But all my efforts have been waste." She said half-heartedly. "He just meets the agent today right? He won't follow up with the agent to see if the buyers are found or not. Only when the agent brings the buyer, he'll step in right?" Tuval nodded yes so I continued, "Great, instead of Cagla, tell Murat you will take this responsibility. And tell the agent that Murat changed his mind. This way Murat will think that agent has yet to find a buyer and the agent won't find one since according to him Murat doesn't want to sell the house." Tuval agreed to the plan but had other concerns which we decided to discuss over coffee at her house.
At Tuval's House:
Tuval: I like your plan, but the company needs financial help.
Me: How many weeks can you go without any support.
Tuval: The vendor won't supply material till the bills are paid. The current supply we have, will keep us working for 2 weeks maximum.
Me: Okay, till then continue this. At the end of the two weeks if you don't have another solution, I'll arrange the money. Okay?
Tuval: You know, this is not the correct time to ask you this, but why are you looking out for Murat? Didn't you run away from him before he could come down to rescue you from the wedding?
Me: I did. I had my reasons. But I feel like I was set up by someone. And Murat told me his side, after listening to him, I did realize something was fishy.
Tuval: Honey, I am in no place to tell you this. But Murat did receive a letter where his father expressed the same thoughts. And even I feel that there has to be some major misunderstanding.
After hearing those words I told Tuval about the audio message, the reason I ran away.
Tuval: That is definitely fishy. The boy loves you. To this day. I remember his restlessness when we were searching for you. He had even blacked out. He never gave up hope. To this day. I mean till the Vancouver fashion show.
Me: I know. But a lot of time has passed Tuval. I guess we are just friends now, if that's what you are implying. Let's see where the life takes us. And I will definitely get to the bottom of this. Trust me, if I was deliberately set up, I will not spare him/her.
Tuval was shocked and visibly scared seeing my this side. Although I wasn't a Tepeli by blood, my family taught me that you should treat the people the way they treat you. Forgive if you can, but do not forget them. (A/N: This is just a character development. I'm not encouraging or promoting violence by any means. )
I took my leave after leaving my phone number and address with Tuval. I told her to send Murat there tomorrow morning.
When I finally reached my house, a small bungalow in Öğümce, to my surprise Cihangir was already there to help me settle down. He made dinner while I cleaned the house and unpacked my stuff. After changing into night clothes, we watched our favorite movie. I guess we fell asleep on the sofa because next thing I remember was someone ringing the bell constantly.
