Felix's POV

We couldn't do anymore. The high elven priestess was working on healing the human's deathly fever, but we had no idea what was causing it. Jimin had collapsed too, and said the pain was unbearable. I had even shed a tear. This felt like a repeat of what had happened with my Mother, and I couldn't stop fretting.

"What happened?" Father was a mixture of enraged and devastated to hear of the human's sudden illness.

"It was Yoonjun." I mumbled. "He sent the fear fairies after her. Jimin fended them off, but they snuck up on us, and he almost got her back. We barely escaped."

"Felix! I told you to be careful! Do you have any idea what you have done?!" A rage was burning in my Father's eyes, and I was beginning to feel angry. Why did he care more about some stupid human than his own son?!

"Enough!" I growled at him. "She's only a human. What does it matter if she dies?! I wish she would! Maybe then everything would return to normal around here!"

"How dare you!" His sword was drawn and the tip barely missed my throat as he swished it through the air and pointed it at me. "Who are you to speak of her like that?!"

"Why do you care more about her than me?!" I asked angrily. I reached for my own blade, but I felt a soft hand on mine.

"Please, Young Prince," Jimin's voice was strained and breathy. He was like an ice block and my attention was drawn away from my anger. "I haven't been completely honest with you." Jimin finally fell unconscious and it was clear just how ill this human being was.

I sat amongst the birds as I scarfed down my meal. I refused to eat with My Father. He wouldn't tell me what was going on, and I refused to continue being his servant whilst he kept important details from me.

The leaves danced wildly in the late Autumn winds, and a chill ran down my spine. I heard the whispers from the trees, and closed my eyes to focus.

"Danger is coming. A curse is upon these lands. The only one who can save us is cursed. We are all doomed."

My heart began thumping like the hooves of a wild horse, galloping across open plains. The tiny hairs on the back of my neck stood on end, and an evil chill ran down my spine. I quickly turned with my sword drawn.

"Who sent you?" I demanded of the hell hound that had managed to sneak up behind me. I jumped down from the thick low hanging branch I was sat on. The hound's giant fangs dripped with drool as he eyed me. The heckles on his back were up and he circled me. I didn't dare turn my back on him. He was waiting for his chance to strike.

"The Evil Master of Necromancy wishes to have an audience with the King." The hounds message rang out clear in the forest. His demonic voice was so unsettling a flock of birds flew into the air, screeching in panic. I was distracted a second too long.

I felt the heavy paws on my chest and started falling backwards. I placed my sword across my torso protectively, and pushed back against the foul beast. The odour of rotting flesh oozed from his mouth, and his slimy drool dripped onto my cheek.

"Hell hound!" I yelled loudly, hoping some nearby scouts would hear and come to assist. The hound laughed maniacally and his glowing blood red eyes settled upon me once more.

"There is no one left out in these trees. They are all dead." I quickly pushed the sword to the hounds throat and pressed hard to keep his snapping jaws away from me.

"Then I shall deal with you myself!" I shouted. I twisted my blade so the sharp edge dug deep into his flesh. The hound whimpered and jumped backwards. I saw my opportunity and leapt back into the tree. I began quickly, and expertly leaping through the branches, desperately fleeing to the safety of Eldoria. I was just about at the border of our kingdom. If I could just get a little bit closer...

"You can run Elf Prince but you will never escape the Master of Darkness!" The hell hound let out a loud howl, before retreating back into the shadows of the trees. My heart was shaken in a way it never had been before, and my breathing was heavy and laboured. The fear had drained my body and the adrenaline was wearing off.

I needed to report back to my Father.

Y/n's POV

I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. I felt sick and weak. As though I hadn't eaten in a week. My head was spinning and I wondered what on Earth all those weird dreams were.

"Y/n, you're finally awake." I didn't realise anyone was there. I should have guessed Jimin would be.

"Mochi, I'm so pleased you're ok. I was so scared. What happened?" My voice was soft and croaky, and my throat was sore. I needed water.

"Don't worry y/n. Rest. You're still not fully recovered." He instructed. He gently stroked some hair from my face, and I stared, in awe, at my soul guide.

"Those dreams," I murmured. "They felt so real."

"They weren't dreams y/n. They were memories of a life long past. I knew there was a reason we were bonded together." I fluttered my eyelashes slightly.

"So... You mean?" He nodded, and a soft fond smile spread across his dainty face.

"Your soul was the first I served, four thousand years ago. I'm not sure how your spirit was reincarnated into a human body, but Princess, I am so pleased to be serving you once more." He bowed his head respectfully and I reached my shaking hand up to his cheek. I gently rested it there and stroked his face.

"I'm so glad you're here old friend. I cannot say how much I missed you." It was weird. I felt like someone else was controlling my body, but that someone else was a part of me too. I blinked hard a couple of times and noticed Jimin was crying.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you before. I was such a young foolish soul guide. I promise, I'm stronger now and I won't let anything happen to you." I slowly sat up and sat on the edge of my bed facing Jimin.

I pulled him into a firm embrace and allowed him to bury his face, and his sadness, into my shoulder. I placed my hand softly on the back of his head and he squeezed me tightly.

"Don't you dare apologise. You almost died because of my stupidity. Please don't cry Mochi. You know it hurts me too. I love you my friend and I know we'll defeat the evil that lies ahead of us. Together." Jimin was shaking as he cried and I continued to comfort him as best I knew how.

The King and Felix burst into my room.

"Y-You've awoken." The King dropped to one knee and Felix looked beyond bewildered. The King grabbed his young son and pulled him to the floor.

"Princess Y/n, High Priestess of the Eastern Sky Kingdom. Welcome back, thank you for coming to help us defeat this evil." I slowly stood and stepped forwards towards the King. I gently took his arm and helped him to his feet, followed by Felix.

"I see you know of my true identity." It felt like someone else was using my mouth to speak and it was an unfamiliar feeling to me. "I'm sorry I could not remember myself, I promise I will do whatever it takes to protect these lands, as if they were my own."

"She's an Elven Princess?" I smiled knowingly at Felix.

"I'm sorry Young Prince. I know taking care of me has been very taxing on you. But your kindness will not be forgotten. Please accept my apologies for startling you by wandering into these lands unannounced. My true spirit needed to stay hidden from Yoonjun." I explained confidently.

"He could have killed you Princess! Why are you inside a human body?" The King was suddenly very interested in me.

"I will explain all in good time my King. For now, why don't we feast to celebrate my revival?" I suggested with a bright smile.

And feast we did.
