I woke the next morning in an unfamiliar place. I looked around and realised it was Felix's room. I rolled over and got the fright of my life. He was next to me. His face looked so peaceful as he slept and his arm was draped loosely around me.
He had finally caved and spent the night with me. I carefully moved closer and wrapped my arms around him. Spring had broken in the Kingdom and birds were chirping outside the window. Everything smelled fresh, and the warm spring sunshine spread throughout the room.
"Five more minutes." He mumbled. I giggled slightly and squeezed him.
"I'll stay here forever with you if you want me to." I said quietly. He pressed his body to mine and in that moment I felt safer than I ever had.
"So this is where you've been!" Jimin appeared and made both Felix and I recoil from each other.
"I've been looking for you everywhere! Dwaeji has been a nightmare. He's been up all night whining for you, and then when I tried to settle him he bit me. He peed on my leg and he's shredded some of your clothes!" He said angrily. I glared at him.
"Jimin for God's sake! He is a puppy!" I reminded him for the hundredth time.
"Oh the King's are on their way, so I would also consider getting up and not letting them see you in bed together." Felix was up and out of the room before another word could be spoken. I sighed and sat up.
"When are they going to announce it?" I asked angrily. "Then we wouldn't need to sneak around!"
"Y/n! Felix open up!" My father sounded enraged and before I could open the door, it was forced open. Hyunjin, Leeknow and my Father walked in. The two Kings looked positively enraged.
"Where is Felix?" My Father asked looking around like a wild animal.
"I don't know." Technically I wasn't lying. I had no idea where he was. King Hyunjin looked irritated. He stepped forward and cleared his throat.
"PRINCE FELIX!" He shouted loudly. I winced and bit my lip. I knew Felix wouldn't ignore his father. The sound of Felix landing on the balcony filled the room. He slowly opened the door and entered. He hung his head in shame and bowed to the two King's.
"I'm here father." He said quietly. I jumped out of bed and immediately stepped in between Felix and the two Kings. I knew they would punish him. My Father's fists were clenched tightly and his jaw was clamped shut so tightly I thought he might break his teeth.
"Move!" My father instructed. I stood firm and glared at him. No one was going to lay a finger on my Lixy.
"No." I stated firmly. Felix gently put his hand on my shoulder but I shrugged it off. If they weren't going to announce our relationship. They sure as hell weren't going to punish us for being together.
"Princess Kiara. Need I remind you that despite being your father, I'm also your king." He said angrily.
"Why won't you just announce our relationship formally?! If you did that we wouldn't need to sneak around like this!" I hissed angrily. I moved and stood next to Felix, taking his hand in mine.
"I love him Appa, and if you don't agree with it, then Felix and I will simply leave. I would rather live in exile with him, than in any kingdom without him." I squeezed his hand gently.
"Enough! I won't stand for this insolence!" Hyunjin shouted.
"You two are banned from seeing each other. Nothing will be announced. As of this second, this little thing that's been going on, is over!" My father stated.
I was stunned. There was no way they were doing this.
"Y-You can't." I whispered. My Father came and wrenched me away from Felix and even Jimin looked horrified at the stark overreaction from the King's.
"Watch me." My Father leered angrily. "Leeknow. Please escort my daughter back to her bed chamber." He instructed. "Jimin you are to stay in the room with her. General Chan will be on guard. If I find out you have allowed her to leave, you will be punished gravely."
"No! You can't do this!" I screamed as I was dragged from the room. Felix looked just as pained as me, but remained composed. "Felix!" I screamed. As the door closed I heard the slapping sound of his fathers hand across his cheek.
I was shoved into my room and I heard the door lock. Dwaeji came running to me and I picked him up. I buried my face into his fur, and began sobbing. How could they do this to me? Tonight was the Spring Equinox festival. I would be stuck here.
"Y/nie..." Jimin's voice was soft and I rushed into his arms. Dwaeji growled, but I didn't care. Jimin held me close and stroked my hair.
"Jimin, why would they do this?" I asked through heavy sobs. Felix and I had only just begun to be happy and now we were being torn apart once more.
"Y/nie. It'll be ok. They'll calm down. Unfortunately the King's are of old. Which means they take tradition very seriously." He murmured.
"I can't do this again Jimin. We only just got back together." I cried loudly. Jimin took dwaeji from me and placed him on the floor.
"Come here sweetie. I'm so sorry." He said softly. He squeezed me tightly and rested his cheek on the top of my head. "I wish there was something I could do." Suddenly my door was thrown open and Changbin walked in. I looked at him and he frowned.
"Princess..." I quickly ran to him and held onto the front of his shirt. He held me and stroked my hair softly.
"B-Binnie. I can't do th-this. I need L-Lixy." I could barely get the words out and my brother sighed as he held me. Mochi joined us and they both did their best to soothe my heart.
"I will try and sway Father. You know how he can be. Please don't do anything stupid. This will pass." He reassured. His words brought me no comfort though. The only thing I wanted was Felix.
"P-Princess..." Jimin's voice was shaky and I lifted my head to look at him.
"What is it Mochi?" I asked quietly.
"It's the Equinox today. What did the prophecy say?!" He began scrambling and realisation hit me. I had almost completely forgotten about that. We all began tearing the room apart looking for the small notebook with the information Felix had written down. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack and I was getting more desperate with each second that passed.
"Here!" Changbin found the messily scrawled notes in the old leather notebook and I quickly took them from him.
"Oh my goodness, is this what it meant?" I was suddenly distracted from my own emotions and the realisation hit.
"Before the sun sets on equinox of spring, the first love will be taken" I mumbled.
"I-Is this really happening?" Changbin asked. He rubbed his hair from his face and I shuddered. I had to be very careful about my next move.
"Changbin, can you do me a favour?" I asked quietly. I needed to come up with a plan. If this wasn't done carefully, we could ruin the whole sequence of events and then Yoonjun may win.
"Anything." He responded with a smile.
"Do not let the King's change their mind. We have to make sure the prophecy plays out. It's the only way we can win." I instructed. He looked shocked and nodded obediently.
"What about Felix?" Jimin asked. I frowned and pursed my lips.
"I have to make sure he stays away from me. Don't worry, I can do that. We're going to be out in front of this thing."
I was determined we would win. Then Felix and I could be together.
If he still loved me after everything I was about to put him through. I pressed my hand to my head and Changbin and Jimin exchanged a worried look.
"I'm so sorry Lixy." I murmured to no one in particular.
The race to the finish line had well and truly begun.
