I hadn't seen Felix in a week. A painful, long, heartbreaking week. I was allowed to leave my room at certain times of the day, when he wasn't around. It was killing me knowing he was so close, but I couldn't be near him.
"Good Afternoon Princess." General Chan bowed deeply and I scoffed at him. He had become like a jailor and seeing him was no longer a happy thought to me.
"There's nothing good about it." I murmured. Leeknow was waiting for me outside my room and stood with his hands politely clasped in front of him.
"Hello Princess. What would you like to do today?" He asked with a smile. Like he was going to get a decent response out of me.
"Felix." I responded flatly. I heard Chan make a kind of choking noise and Leeknow glared at him, and then pursed his lips as he looked at me. I saw his grip tighten, and couldn't help smirking.
"Princess please. That's no way for a lady to talk." He hissed quietly.
"Oh and I guess you're all about listening to ladies talk huh? I know your dirty little secrets Leeknow. You forget who you're talking to." I turned my nose up and allowed Dwaeji and Jimin out. They were both restless and a walk would do them good.
I wandered along the river bank, escorted by my two jailors. As much as I knew I had to stay away from Felix, I would give anything to see him. The first flowers of spring were growing, getting ready to show their first vibrant petals. I was convinced that Felix and I would be seeing this together. Instead we had been torn apart.
"What are you thinking about Princess?" Leeknow asked suddenly. Dragging me out of my thoughts.
"Nothing that concerns you Lee Minho." He tutted and smirked.
"I always love it when you're disappointed in me. Hearing my full name come out of your mouth always gives me chills." He said excitedly.
"Pervert." I didn't hesitate and Chan made another choking type noise. I stopped and sat down. Jimin transformed back into a human and seated himself next to me. I rested my head on his shoulder as we watched the raging river together. The winter melt was drawing to an end and the waters had risen as the melting ice made its way off of the mountains. What I wouldn't give to just take flight with him right this second and follow the river as far east as it would take us.
"Soon y/n." He murmured as he read my mind. I smiled softly and pulled his arm around me. At least having Jimin was a comfort I didn't have to forego.
"Hey! What have I told you about communication!" Leeknow threatened.
"Shut up dummy. You're not my boss." I glared at him and he rolled his eyes. I watched the peaks and troughs in the water, and wondered why my life was so just as turbulent as the raging waters. Why had I been chosen? Why must I suffer like this?
"Y/nie, stop it. Stop beating yourself up. You know this is out of your control. It will get easier." Jimin soothed softly. I buried my face in his shoulders as tears threatened to fall.
"What is she thinking?!" Leeknow demanded.
"Shut up Minho!" I yelled. I was sick of him interfering. I knew he would be reporting back to my Father. He didn't need to know every little detail of my inner thoughts.
"Mochi, stop talking to me. Just communicate through thoughts." I instructed clearly in my mind. He nodded slightly.
"We need to focus on the prophecy Princess. We need to figure out what the unexpected power will be." He explained.
"Yoonjun. I don't think it's just my power he has taken. Didn't Felix say awhile ago that scouts had been going missing? What if he's been draining them too?" I enquired.
"That's a good point. But it said am unexpected power. We are expecting Yoonjun to be powerful." He reminded me. I let out a loud sigh. Leeknow eyed us both suspiciously.
"Come Dwaeji, let's go back to prison." I instructed as I stood. I wiped my slightly damp butt and began heading back towards the Palace. Jimin picked the small puppy up and caught up to me. He had grown fond of him, as much as he pretended to hate him.
"Please Princess, stop referring to this as prison." Leeknow asked.
"Princess Kiara," it was the first time Chan had spoken to me. I stopped and looked up at him.
"What?" I said abruptly.
"Your father has your best interest at heart. Please trust in his judgement." I shrugged. I didn't want to hear it.
"Whatever." I mumbled.
I stood on the balcony of my room with Chan and Leeknow behind me and stared out over the Kingdom. The leaves were growing back on the trees, and the Kingdom was looking less like a broken landscape of brown skeletons and returning to the mighty forest I always remembered.
I could see the giant Eldridgian oak, with it's many finger like branches stretching up to the sky and I smiled fondly. That was where this crazy journey had started. In that very spot where Felix had taken me.
"Y/n?" Jimin's voice was soft and caring as he spoke.
"Yes my little Mochi?" I murmured quietly as I allowed the fresh spring air to brush over my hair.
"Are you sure this is the beginning of the prophecy? Are you sure that what we have planned is right?" He asked. I immediately switched to my thoughts.
"Yes Jimin-ssi. I need him to stay away for the time being. If he's smart he will realise this is the prophecy unfolding. If he's not then I may lose him forever, but what choice do we have?" Jimin sighed loudly.
"I know you're right, but what if he kills him? You know how much Felix feels for you." He replied.
"I do. I feel the same way, but what else can we do?" He nodded and frowned. I rested my elbows on the balcony and my eyes were drawn down to the ground.
It was him. His blonde hair. His gentle bounce as he stepped lightfooted across the ground. His hand resting on his sword. He turned and looked up. Our eyes met.
His face was bruised and battered and I smiled sadly. That had clearly been his punishment for defiance. He nodded slightly and I wanted nothing more than to call out to him. To tell him I loved him once more. Instead I did the unthinkable.
I turned and grabbed Leeknow.
"Princess, what are you doing?" He asked confused as he tried to remove his shirt from my tight grasp.
"Shut up and go along with it." I instructed. I quickly kissed him and his whole body stiffened. I knew he wasn't enjoying this. Neither was I. My heart felt pained and I knew Felix would see.
That was the plan.
I turned back and watched as he stood, mouth slightly agape with a single solitary tear running down his cheek.
"Now Mochi!" I instructed. Jimin quickly scaled down the side of the building, and I heard him jump and land with a slight thud. He ran to Felix and quickly began talking.
I hoped Felix would understand. I saw him glaring at Jimin and then I heard the words I never wanted to hear.
"No Jimin! I will never forgive her! I never want to see her again! I hate her!" He stormed off and I dropped to my knees.
"Uh, what was that?" Leeknow was visibly confused and Chan was equally puzzled as they stared at me in utter disbelief. After all, they had only heard of my longing for Felix as of late.
"That was me, ruining my life so the prophecy may come into fruition." I stated sadly. My heart protested to the turbulent emotions that spread through my body.
The pair exchanged a look and I clutched my chest.
What if he never came back to me?
