Y/n's POV

I felt like myself, but also like a new version of me. It was as though my soul had been fully awakened after being forced into a deep sleep.

"Princess-"

"Jimin, please my name is y/n." I said softly. He grimaced slightly at my insistence on not being called Princess, but he accepted it.

"Y/n. How are you feeling today?" He asked. "You gave us all quite scare with that fever and I want to make sure you've regained your strength before trying to take on too much."

"Thank you Mochi. But I feel much better. A little alarmed maybe that my life has changed so drastically, but good. All these memories of a previous life are weird too. I feel like there's two people inside me."

"I know it's a lot to take in y/n. But at least now you know why we were bonded." He said with a smile. "And I couldn't be more grateful that we are reunited once more."

"One thing is still troubling me though." I admitted. He frowned and turned to face me. His tiny face was filled with worry as he waited for me to continue speaking. "Why was Yoonjun holding me hostage, and why didn't he kill you?"

"Both very compelling questions Princess." I jumped at the sound of the King's voice and bowed my head slightly as he entered.

"I'd like to know the answer too." Felix sauntered in behind his father and eyed me suspiciously. Although he now showed me some respect, he still didn't trust me.

"I believe it's because he intended to use your powers. He placed a strong spell over you Princess, that's why you fell ill. I believe he wants to end the elven kingdom once and for all." The King's words worried me greatly.

"Then why did he allow me to enter the home they shared?" Mochi asked slightly confused. The thought made me feel violently sick. I couldn't believe I had ever allowed him to touch me, or kiss me. I shuddered at the thought of his gross hands on my body.

"Because the Princess may have awoken had he not. Your bond is stronger than any other. Elven soul guides bond to their first soul more strongly than any other. Surely you sensed she wasn't just a human Jimin?" The King looked to my companion and he nodded.

"That's why I brought her into the forest. My first attempt was blocked by Yoonjun. He put a barrier up that the Princess could not break through. The second night I made sure he was asleep." I bit my lip. I knew Jimin had run off into the forest that first night. It made sense why he had seemingly magically appeared behind Yoonjun.

"So what makes her so special?" Felix nodded towards me but refused to meet my eye.

"She comes from the air kingdom Felix. They are easily the most powerful of all the elven kingdoms. Not only that but the soul inside that humans body, she was the high priestess during the reign of King Han." Felix's mouth was agape.

"Then she was..." The King nodded.

"She was to be betrothed to me before your Mother." The King's face softened and I bit my lip nervously. Felix was staring at me trying to figure me out and I was uncomfortable.

"We must send word to the Kingdoms to the East. They must know of Yoonjun's plans, and his return. We don't know how long he has been gathering his strength for." Felix's words were rushed and the worry in his voice was evident. He was right though.

"May I be excused?" I asked quietly. The King gently waved his hand and I stood. I slowly walked towards the door and pulled it open. It creaked loudly and I glanced back over my shoulder at the three men who's eyes were on me. "I need some air." I explained before I stepped through the door and left.

I laid out on the beautiful bank and allowed the sun to wash over my skin. The scent of the wonderful flowers that bloomed here filled the air and the sound of the glistening water was relaxing.

"Hey, y/n." Felix's voice startled me slightly and I shielded my eyes so I could see him. His handsome face was riddled with worry and he had a hand wrapped around his waist as he gazed upon me.

"Yes Felix?" I responded quietly. His face was captivating, and I loved hearing him say my name.

"May we speak?" I sat up and patted the ground next to me as an invite for him to sit. He seated himself next to me and hugged his knees to his chest.

"What's troubling you Felix?" I asked quietly as I watched insects dance around the waters edge.

"I want to apologise." My head whipped around to look at him so quickly I thought it might fall off of my shoulders.

"For what?" I enquired.

"Everything. I haven't been kind to you since you arrived in our Kingdom. Human's are a sore spot for us Elves. The great war is still felt deeply here. Many of us were alive when it was taking place." He explained. I looked back to the calming water and wished my life was as easy as drifting along slowly.

"It's ok Felix. You don't need to explain. I apologise for all of my rudeness too. I was confused and didn't know what was happening. Although I can't say I'm any less confused now that I do know what is going on." He reached out and gently placed a hand on my shoulder. His warmth spread through my body like the most comforting cup of hot cocoa on cold winters night.

"Maybe we can start afresh?" He suggested. "Who knows, maybe we can become friends." He stared out over the waters and I smiled softly.

"I knew there was a kind person underneath all of that attitude." He laughed. It was so infectious I couldn't help joining in. Seeing the look of pure joy in his face was amazing after all the turmoil that had been happening around us.

"Y/n. Thank you for coming into our forest. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't know of the dangerous forces that have gathered around us." Felix's words touched my soul and I felt happy that he had finally accepted my presence.

"You have Mochi to thank for that. He's the reason I found my way here." I leaned back on my hands and allowed my hair to whip around my face.

"Maybe I can convince my Father to allow you to stay in the Palace. It wouldn't be right to hold a Princess in a prison cell as we have been."

"Thank you Felix."

The rest of the afternoon drifted by, and Felix and I barely moved. We were finally comfortable in each other's presence, and dare I say enjoying the company.

"One thing is for sure though Felix." I stated as we stood to head inside. The cool autumn air was beginning to chill us both to the bones.

"What's that Princess?" He asked, intrigued in my thoughts.

"The worst is definitely ahead of us." He pursed his lips slightly and nodded in agreement.

Neither of us could ever be prepared for the journey we were about to take, nor the massive losses we would incurr.

But I was certain that as long as we stuck together, we would come out victorious.
