Humans were made weak.
They have too many limits, and they get tired easily. They run, but they can only run for a few minutes. They swim, but if they stay underwater for too long, they start to become faint.
They are foolish, as well. They only become wiser after having learned from their mistakes. Sometimes, they don't even learn at all.
And yet...
Yet, they continue to live. As if they had no limits.
As if they could fly, even if they couldn't.
As if they could have anything they wanted, even when it was impossible.
Death himself knew all these, and yet...
He couldn't understand, at all.
Why try even if you're going to die, anyway?
"Aah!"
A scream penetrates the otherwise calm night air, and Death turns his head, seeking whoever had made such a terrified sound.
Out of character, his long, black bow is conjured up in his left hand, and he looks down upon it.
Why had it appeared?
And why... does it seem to be leading him somewhere?
Death's Bow is never wrong, however, and so he follows it, his right hand twirling behind his head to conjure up an arrow. He adjusts it onto his bow, and raising it to his eye, he focuses, then shoots.
The arrow flies, not even making a sound as it goes straight to its target.
And as Death lowers his Bow, he watches the arrow, and it lands, piercing through a man with ragged clothes. The man freezes, then he chokes, bending forward as the arrow lights up in a charred red.
The scream he had heard earlier repeats itself, and Death raises his brows as he tilts his head, recognizing the source of the sound: Behind the man he had just shot... or rather infront of him.
Then, the man starts to incinerate, turning into ash and quickly flying off into the sky. Bit by bit, he disappears, starting from where the arrow pierced him, until...
The terrified eyes of a girl meet Death's.
The girl gasps upon the sight of that which had killed her attacker, but before she could even comprehend with what had happened, Death's Bow pulls at his arm again, raising itself and pointing itself at the girl.
Death's attention turns to it, and soon his hand, as if with a life of its own, summons another arrow and adjusts it onto the bow. His eyes widen as the bow aims at the girl.
And yet for some reason...
The arrow flies, making a sound this time and whirring from the bow to the girl in quick succession. However, due to Death's manipulation, it misses.
The girl yelps, holding her arm infront of her face as if to protect herself, but the arrow only whizzes past her, stabbing right into the concrete and only leaving her with a scratch. One that soon turns into a burn mark.
With wide eyes, Death looks towards her. But in the next second, his eyes return to their normal size, and he disappears, leaving the girl on her own, dazed and confused. The arrow that had almost hit her now also gone.
Human's were made weak.
And it is only through Death's mercy that they remain alive.
