‼️ Tw: mentions of suicidal actions ‼️
...
By the time Monday rolled in, Suyeon was already set to visit her second oldest brother, Suhyun.
One last visit, and then she would be free to do whatever else she wanted to do or go wherever she wanted to go before dying. And all while still in the company of Death.
But then again, as the young woman steps out of her room, her sling bag hanging from her shoulder while she looks towards the clueless grim reaper sitting and waiting for her obediently in the living room, she sighs and smiles as she wonders how Death himself ended up being such a clueless being after all.
Maybe she just got lucky. Or maybe, like Death thinks as he turns to her to see her smiling at him, she had a soul so pure that it attracted kindness.
"Is that even possible?" Youngtaek thinks to himself as he stands up and Suyeon approaches him. His thoughts only intensify even more as she speaks with her usual awkward yet gentle tone.
"I'm ready! Shall we go?"
"... Sure." The reaper replies, his tone not any different either despite how long they've been around each other. Nevertheless, something has definitely changed, though gradually, and Youngtaek can sense it as he joins Suyeon by her side before they exit the house.
"Well. One last brother," Suyeon speaks aloud as they wait for a taxi. "This shouldn't be that hard, right?"
"I'm sure he'll listen like your other brother did," Youngtaek replies, much to Suyeon's surprise as she turns to him with wide eyes.
A second later, however, her smile returns, and she chuckles before a taxi arrives and stops in front of them. The pair get in eventually, a lighter atmosphere surrounding them and a smile on Suyeon's face while a much lighter one peeks at the corner of Youngtaek's lips as he watches the young woman.
.
Meanwhile, outside her own family home, Yumin stands, her eyes watching the empty road that lie before her, and her heart pounding in her chest with every second passing and bringing her closer to the conclusion of her decision.
She's had enough, to be frank.
Every day since her last attempt, things have only gotten worse for her. You'd think her father would at least show some concern over the fact that his only biological daughter tried to hurt herself. You'd think her stepmother would at least be a little kinder to her, in honor of the man she married.
But, no. Both of them remained stubbornly cruel. Even to the point that their maids have become afraid of Yumin.
Not even the Messenger of Misery could come and help her. His presence was there, but it was only when she was alone. It was only at night.
What could she do when she was with her enemies? Or if she were at the edge in the morning?
A grim reaper that claimed to care and worry and save her multiple times wasn't exactly what Yumin wanted. He didn't exactly come when she needed him most, and on days like these...
It's better this way, she thinks, so no one would ever have to deal with her anymore. Not her father who only cares about his business. Not her stepmother who only cares about her reputation. Not the maids who are afraid. Eventually, she'll end up meeting Misery, too, and then maybe it won't be too bad...
