Puzzled

Jack was perplexed. What could all of this possibly mean? Were the entire class playing some kind of sick joke on him? I doubt it. If it wasn't that then what could it be. Lola had gone to school with Jack since she was 3 and it seemed highly unlikely that she would just go off the radar and the only one who would notice was Jack. No, of course not. That thought left Jack's mind as soon as it came in. Impossible.

He couldn't focus throughout maths. Numbers were floating aimlessly around his head; they didn't know what was their purpose was nor did they know what was happening, just like Jack. It felt like months before the bell finally rang for lunchtime. Jack stood up behind his chair before he heard the voice of his teacher, "Where do you think you're going Jack. I would like to have a little talk with you about this morning." Oh No.

" Jack, you should know, as a teacher I'm beginning to get very worried about you. Not just today but over multiple days you've not been doing well as you should be. I mean, I noticed you in maths class and I could almost see you drifting into outer space; metaphorically speaking. Then all this thing about Lola. Jack I know you might be trying to joke around with the class, but then again, you looked so serious. Come on, tell me what's up."

" W - Well you see Miss, there really was someone named Lola in this class and she went on a walk with two of my friends but they don't remember that. They tell me it had just been us three for years and that we had never known anyone called Lola. I'm just so puzzled about it all."

" Well Jack, I don't know what you're talking about and quite frankly, I don't want to. Go outside and play and I don't want to hear anything about this "Lola" of yours for the rest of the day. You may now go for lunch."
