A hint of sunlight seeped in the drawn curtains as Jack began to wake up. He was tired. No matter how much sleep he'd had the previous night, the trauma of the day before still haunted his mind. There were a million questions left unanswered and Jack did not intend to end his investigation until he knew the answer to every last one of them. The question was, what could Jack do to uncover the secrets?
This was something he had thought about way less than he should have. I guess he would just have to wait and see if anything out of the ordinary happened at school today and base it off that. Little did Jack know was that this plan would work very well as what was about to happen at school was very, very out of the ordinary . . .
Jack got up, got dressed, had a breakfast of some cheerios and was finally prepared for school. Physically but definitely not emotionally. He had considered letting his mum know all about what was happening but then he came up with three things why he shouldn't. Firstly, he knew that his mum, along with everyone else, would have forgotten about Lola by now. Secondly, she was worried about him enough as he wasn't doing well in school as of late and it would not be good if she thought that he was going crazy. Thirdly, he knew that she didn't trust him that much after previous incidents in which his words have not been reliable.
So there. That was that sorted. He was to be the only one who knew about this little mystery of his and that as far as he was concerned, nobody else needed to know. The shock that was laying in wait for him at school was about to pounce on him like a chameleon jumping on an unsuspecting fly. Jack's life was about to be changed permanently. Jack would realise soon that he had less time to uncover the case than he had thought.
He left for school that day expecting anything; what happened at school though was definitely unexpected. As he approached the school gate he began to have a throbbing in his throat. He was just coming to grips with what was actually happening. For the first time, Jack realised how serious this was. This never happened. News stories could be surprising but this was far beyond that. He had heard of people going missing but those were often horrible stories in which murders take place. Jack was beginning to become worried. What if a murder actually had taken place at this school. He shuddered at the thought and comforted himself that people don't just disappear. This was an unprecedented news story.
Jack nearly threw up at the sight of his friend, just the one (Tommy), sitting there all alone. This was bad news. Possibly not. He was thinking of things, yes that was it. It was impossible that Lily had left them. Of course not. She was obviously in the toilet. He knew it. After that, he came up to Tommy and said, "Where is Lily, is she at the loo?"
Tommy replied, " Who's Lily? Tell me this isn't one of your random people shenanigans from yesterday."
"Stop joking with me Tommy it's not funny after yesterday."
"I'm not joking with you Tommy, swear on my life. Who's Lily?"
This couldn't be happening . . .
*It was a long one today lucky people but it might not be so long in future chapters. This is the part where the story gets exciting so don't give up on the book now*
