A brightness surrounded his room as Jack's alarm clock woke him for the treacherous day ahead. It wasn't as if he wanted to wake up. Quite the opposite, he went to sleep wishing he never saw the light of day again. But, as you know, he carried on with the tiring journey people called life.
He thought about the evening before and remembered the horrible argument he had gotten into with his mother. Hopefully, he could put that behind him as the new day arrived on his doorstep full of trouble. If he thought that last night would be the saddest he would be that week he was very much mistaken.
After having cereal, brushing his teeth, and packing his bag, Jack finally left his house and set off on his journey to school. What more could go wrong. Obviously nothing; there was nothing else possible because everything had been taken away from Jack. Friends and family. As he entered the school gates, he realised the one thing that could go wrong. He had thought that all of his friends had disappeared but truth be told it was nearly all of his friends. Tommy had been with him the day before but he had a sneaking suspicion that he would not be that day.
If so, how would they disappear? Jack wondered when and how they would be taken away from their family. Yesterday he had seen all of the brain-power-taking things but that didn't explain why everyone but him was forgetting that these people ever lived. It seemed that whatever the reason was must have been an incredible scientific breakthrough.
Jack thought about it; people have been working on things that mess with your brain but none of them have succeeded. Maybe the 'ace of spades' as they called him, had been working on something like that but didn't share his invention with the world because he was greedy and wanted power.
The one thing Jack had dreaded at school came true. Here's how it went:
Jack walked into the building only to find people laughing and gossiping about him. Tommy, his one friend who left yesterday, was nowhere to be seen. It looked as if Jack was the most unpopular child in the school and everyone was making fun of him.
"What are you looking at? Why are you all laughing at me?" Jack asked.
"Are you stupid kid? No one likes you and we are all laughing at that ugly face of yours. Go make yourself some friends although I wouldn't be surprised if everyone ran away from you. Haha," said Josh the school bully.
