" Yeah, idiot. Get a life. What are you gonna do? Tell your mum?" chimed in Josh's friends.
This was rewarded with guffaws of laughter. Jack really was alone and there was nothing that he could do about it. The pain and hurt of being bullied sparked a sense of distraughtness in Jack's heart. Nobody liked him, Tommy was gone and, most importantly, he was dying inside. Dying inside. Could it be?
Just as Jack thought that nothing worse could happen, something worse happened. Something much worse. It was time to enter the classroom and he never knew anybody on earth could be as mean as the people who were waiting for him on the other side of the door.
Jack was hurt emotionally but he knew that bullying started off like that before it goes a little more . . . physical. His heart had sunk; deeper than a submarine. His self-esteem was at the bottom of the Mariana trench and could never be restored to its full potential.
"Haha. Look who's decided to turn up today. Probably going on again about his imaginary friends Lola and Lily. He's so unpopular that even his fake friends left him." said one of the 'cool kids' in the class.
"Oh shut up George. We all know that someday he'll go far unlike you. The difference is we want him to stay there." laughed Patricia. "To quote a song, When I see your face, there is not a thing that I change . . . except, of course, the direction I'm walking in."
"Ha you just got roasted fam," the class roadman joined in, " We know he brings everyone so much joy . . . when he leaves the room! Get roasted man."
"Shut up!" Jack said angrily.
"OH MY GOODNESS. IT SPEAKS?" said Patricia sarcastically.
"I feel sorry for the trees you know. Somewhere out there is a tree tirelessly making oxygen that is wasted all on you. You owe it a big apology."
"Oh just be quiet, will you? You all are just some fat losers trying to feel better about yourselves by insulting me. Just grow up a little." Jack shouted.
"What did he say? I stopped listening after the 'oh just be'." teased Josh.
Everybody in the class laughed whole-heartedly and surprisingly the teacher did nothing for a while and even let out a smirk.
"All right children. Settle down now. Let's get started, let me take the register before I send you out for P.E. It's Coach Jim this week and you will be doing Rugby." the teacher shouted over the din.
P.E was bound to be a disaster. Jack should have been warned; it would have saved him a lot of pain. A lot of pain.
