Transcript: Because we were so stupid, We repeated those forbidden words. Because you were so stupid, You told your lies to make me stay. Because I was so stupid, I submitted to you every time.
Because I'm no longer stupid, I can drag myself off the floor Of the word prison you've kept me in. I chucked your dreams of forever And unkept promises across the lake. I watched your ring, my captor, As it skipped across the liquid sun.
With a final splash, I took a breath: "I'm not stupid." The ripples faded in the late afternoon view, Taking our broken binds with them. My heart no longer tied to you, Maybe, just maybe, I could run free, And produce a pearl of hope.
