Chapter Fifteen: Secrets

After the fight, everyone goes back to what they were doing prior to it. Shane walks off with his friends but not before shoving Chad out of the way. Chad didn't even fight him back. He stood stock still and facing away from Eric who is currently glaring at him. Luke gave me a sheepish smile and then walked away so now I am left with just Eric and Chad. This isn't good.  

"What the fuck did you just say?" Eric asks.  

Chad finally turns around and looks between Eric and I. He looks completely guilty and I step closer to stand by him.  

"Listen, Eric. We didn't want you to find out this way. We were going to tell you. We just wanted to do it at the right time," I speak up for Chad.  

Eric shakes his head.  

"You knew I'd say no! I fucking warned you off her the second I met you!" Eric shouts at him.  

Chad nods his head, "I know. I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to happen! It just....it just did."  

"It just did?! It JUST DID?! She's my fucking sister! My little sister! I told you what happened the last time she dated one of my friends!" He shouts.  

"I know I fucked up! I know what happened last time! I'm not going to cheat on her thousands of fucking times like that asshole! That's not me!"  

"That is you actually! You may be my best friend but you treat girls like dirt! You sleep around every weekend!"  

I can see the anger boiling behind both of their eyes and the fight is just going to get worse if they don't calm down.  

"I haven't done that since the second I kissed your sister which was weeks ago! You kept asking me why I wasn't going home with any girls! Well, she is why! I like your sister, Eric! I like her a lot. I'm sorry I fucked up but I want to date your sister. If you're pissed then be pissed."  

Eric just stares at the two of us as if in contemplation.  

"Eric, you can't dictate who I date or who Chad dates. I know we should have told you and I swear we were going to. We just wanted to see where this was going before making anything official."  

"It clearly was official before this. He just called you his girlfriend? Or am I the only one who heard that?"  

"Yes, he called me his girlfriend. For the first time, I might add."  

Eric just shakes his head, "I don't like it. I don't like you dating my sister. You're just going to break her heart."  

Chad walks a little closer to Eric.  

"No, I'm not. I'm not going to intentionally hurt your sister I promise. I know I've never dated. She knows that too. We've talked about it. She isn't like the other girls and I know that is some cheesy ass bullshit but its' the fucking truth."  

"If you hurt her, I'm going to murder you."  

"I know," Chad says, a hint of hope behind his eyes.  

Eric nods his head, "One more thing."  

And with that, Eric punches him in the nose. "Now we're even."

"I think he took it well," Chad says.  

I stare at him with confusion, "Are you insane?"
