I take a bite of the apple before placing my book down to get a drink. No one is home so I have the whole house to myself for now which is absolutely lovely.
After hanging out in the park with Chad he dropped me off home and told me he'd pick me up again in the morning. Apparently this daily coffee routine will be a usual for my brother. He texted me a few minutes ago saying that he promises to explain everything to me when he gets home. The doorbell rings and I practically run for it, not able to hold in the excitement.
There stands my best friend, Josie, who I haven't seen in about a week since she went to Florida to visit her grandparents. Her long blonde hair is straight like usual but her tan is much darker than the last time I saw her. The white blouse she is wearing goes great with her jean shorts and like usual, she looks like a model. Her head is tilted up as she examines the house, most likely coming to some conclusion about it.
"I approve of the new place. Although, I'll miss the parties being thrown at the apartment."
I roll my eyes at her words, "That was one time."
"Actually, two."
She walks in and then stares around the house in complete awe. She lives in an apartment in Manhattan with parents who are rarely home. I'd rather just live with her. It's a nice house but having to see my father everyday kind of sucks.
"Where's your dad?"
"He's at work. Val is at work. Eric is with his lover. And Warren will be coming back from school soon," I tell her.
"Eric has a girlfriend?" She gives me a smile but I can see past it.
"Apparently. He didn't tell me. I found out by watching the girl come up and plant one on him," I feel bad for saying it but maybe if she knows there is no feelings then she can get over him. I'm ninety nine percent positive she has had a thing for him for a while now but she has yet to tell me.
"He didn't tell you? So he's still acting weird?"
I nod my head and grab my purse before heading out the door. The last time we talked I had complained about Eric's behavior for about twenty minutes. She knows how close Eric and I are and even she was surprised at how weird he was acting around me. We walk towards her car and I'm about to get in until her loud gasp stops me.
"What?"
I follow her gaze and look at Chad; shirtless, sweating, and sexy. I hold back a groan as I watch him work on his bike.
"You live next to that?" Josie exclaims.
I nod my head, "Sadly."
"Sadly?! I would trade the apartment life for that piece of ass any day," she tells me.
I laugh at her words and turn around to get in the passenger seat. Chad looks over at us and he gives me a quick wave before turning back to his bike. Josie gets in the driver seat and turns to look at me.
"You've talked to him?"
"He's friends with Eric and his family comes over the house for dinner once a week apparently. He also drove me to school today."
She turns the car on and pulls out of my driveway. Her mouth is hanging open and I reach over to close it.
"It's not that big of a deal."
"Yeah, I know. All I'm saying is you're lucky."
I shake my head at her words and lean over to turn the radio on. We make our way towards Manhattan and instantly I start feeling better.
