you:
| Rindou? Are u there?

You tapped the back of your phone with your index finger rapidly as you waited for your message to light up. Wiping the tears away from your face with your sleeves.

Five minutes passed and he finally responded with  a simple 'yes'.

you:
| can I come over? I don't want to be at home right now....

He left you on seen for a couple of minutes and you wanted to curl up and die, until a call notification popped up from an unknown number. You swiped the call and held the phone up to your ear. "Rin?"

"Is everything okay?" His voice seemed lace with worry as he heard your sniffles.

"Yeah... no.. sorta? I don't know." You struggled to think of words to describe how you're feeling. "Can I come over? If you're not busy of course.. I know you're busy nowadays and I don't want to intervene but—,"

"Y/n.." he cut you off, "it's 2AM in the morning. I'm not doing anything."

Oh. You removed the phone from your ear and checked the time, not even realising it was that late. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you."

"I wasn't asleep it's okay." His voice was deep like he had just woken up. Lie number 1. "You can you come over though, I don't mind."

"Thank you so much." You hung up sounded relived and stood up from your empty bedroom and grabbed your car keys from the counter.

Heading downstairs to where Naoto was waiting for you in the kitchen. "Y/n I'm sorry—,"

"Don't want to hear it." You shoved past him opening the door. "Where are you going?" He furrowed his eyebrows watching you fumble with the doorknob.

"Out."

"Out to where?" He flinched when you slammed the door shut before hearing you lock the door with your keys from the other end.

"Fuck," he sighed, heading straight for the fridge, grabbing a bottle of beer.

You drove to the place Rindou dropped you off at last time, vaguely remembering the directions but still got there nonetheless. Sending him a text that you're downstairs.

You heard the elevator chime before turning around, seeing him walk out with tired eyes. You ran up to him and wrapped your arms around his chest, tears staining his shirt. The impact caused him to stumble back a little before he brought his hand to pat your head. "What's wrong?" He asked as he gently massaged your scalp. Waiting for you to calm down so you could speak.

"We.. got into a fight." You admitted, pulling away wiping your eyes. "Sorry about your shirt." You gestured to the wet stains on his white now turned grey shirt.

"It's ok," he brushed off your apology, "got into a fight with who?" His brows furrowed as he awaited your answer.

"Naoto...." your eyes were too puffy to see the happiness on his face, quickly disguised to one of sadness and pity. "Oh really? About what?" He pulled you in for another hug to hide the smirk that was forming on his face.

That was faster than he thought. Good job Naoto, he thought to himself.

"He got mad at me cause I told him I'm sick and tired of him barely spending time with me anymore. He said some stuff about how I was acting selfish cause I expect him to stop working just to show me attention," you paused to take a deep breath, "but that's not the case. I just want him to balance me and his job equally but he prioritises that more and it feels degrading almost. I don't like being second best."

"Hm," he hummed as he listened to you. "What happened after?"

"I just stormed to my room and texted you. I don't want to be there right now." Rindou nodded pulling you away from him.

"So what do you want me to do?" He asked. In a way you were sort of being a hypocrite. You don't like being second best yet you were putting him second. Knowing fully well after you spend your time with him you'd run back to Naoto.

"I- I don't actually know what I want to do. You're just the first person I thought of." You shrugged, suddenly not wanting to make eye contact.

"I don't see the point in this," he said and you felt sick to your stomach hearing his words. "You're just doing to run back to him are you not?"

"I.. I love him." You said meekly and Rindou scoffed internally. "But— I also lov— like spending time with you. To the point it makes me forget about him."

Rindou raised his eyebrow, genuinely confused. "So you're using me to forget about him?"

"No! I'm not." You defended yourself. "I don't know how to explain this without sounding like a horrible person."

"Well you can explain to me once you make up your mind about what you want. Cause it's confusing," he turned away from you about to head up the elevator before you stopped him.

"Rindou... please. I don't know what I want." You looked at him, "I still feel guilty about what happened 10 years ago. I really do, and I feel those feelings for you to this day, but I'm also attached to Naoto. Like emotionally. Meeting you again was probably the best and worst feelings of my life. The best because I finally had you back in my life and I wanted to make it up to you. But also the worst because now I'm left confused about who and what I want. You're addicting Rindou. Something about you just draws me to you and I crave it so much but at the same time... you've changed in a way that scares me. I know what you've been up to, I'm pretty sure everyone in this town has. It's scary Rin, I don't like it. But I need you at the same time."

You were met with silence as he simply stared at you. After realising you weren't going to receive an answer you dropped his hand. "I'm sorry. I'll just go."

"Don't go." He said and he grabbed your hand, bringing it to you. "Sorry I was just speechless to be honest."

"About which part?" You asked and he shrugged, "all of it to be honest with you. But I sort of understand why you're feeling like that."

"You do?"  He nodded. "Yeah but I'm not the same patient guy I was back then. I don't like people wasting my time."

"I know...."

"You broken up with him?" He asked and you shrugged. "It's complicated right now. But basically yeah."

"So you won't feel guilty if I kiss you?" He moved closer to you and you were hiding a smile. "Will you?" He asked again.

"I don't know." You shifted away from him playfully he pulled you closer, gripping the underside of your face before pressing his lips against yours softly, pulling away just as fast before you could fully lean into it.

A pout formed on your face as you leaned in closer but he pressed his palm against your face, looking around. "Not here, upstairs."
