Peter's POV
"Did Liz get a new top?" Ned asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. I was lost in my own world, holding my chin in my hand, when I turned to face him."What?" I replied, caught off guard.
"No, I think I've seen that one before. But never with that skirt," Ned observed, his brows furrowing. "I should probably stop staring before it gets creepy," he added, still not taking his eyes off her.
"Too late, you guys are losers," MJ chimed in, causing both Ned and me to turn our heads towards her. I moved my hand away from my chin and made a confused face.
"Well then why do you sit with us?" Ned questioned.
"Because I don't have any friends," MJ replied matter-of-factly.
"Hey," Y/n said, walking over to join our conversation.
"You still like her, right?" Ned whispered to me.
"Yes, Ned. Hi," I said, speaking the last part louder to catch Y/n's attention.
"Super cool," Ned replied as she sat down next to Y/n.
"Are you two talking about Star Wars again?" Y/n asked, placing her tray down with a smirk on her face.
"Yup!" I said with enthusiasm. "Yeah, just, um, lightsabers."
"Yeah, they're cool. I mean, not really because they're really hot, but you get what I mean," Ned added, awkwardly trying to explain.
"Right, anyway!" Y/n said, clapping her hands together. "Do any of you know anything about the history class next period?"
"Lets move to the next question. What is the heaviest naturally occurring element?" DING!
"Hydrogen is the lightest. That's not the question, okay."
DING!
"Geranium."
"That is correct, thank you, Abraham," Liz said, and he pumped his fist in excitement.
"Peter, it's nationals. Is there no way you can take one weekend off?" Mr. Harrington asked me.
"I can't go to Washington because if Mr. Stark needs me, then I have to make sure that I'm here."
"You've never been in the same room as Tony Stark," Flash mocked from the back.
"Wait, what's happening?" One kid asked, confused by the sudden conversation.
"Peter's not going to Washington," another kid explained.
"No, no, no, no, no," a girl muttered, "Why not?"
"Really? Right before nationals?" Liz said, disappointed.
"Well, he already quit marching band and the robotics lab," MJ commented, looking up from her book. "I'm not obsessed with him. Y/n is just very observant." I smiled at her comment and checked the time again, impatiently waiting for the bell to ring. As soon as it did, I sprang from my seat and quickly sprinted outside, making sure no one was watching before jumping over the fence.
"Sup, Mr. Delmar," I greeted as I walked into the sandwich place.
"Hey, Mr. Parker. A number five, right?" Mr. Delmar asked, already preparing my usual order, as I dropped two bags of gummy worms on the counter.
"Yeah, and, uh, with pickles. Can you smoosh it down real flat? Thanks."
"You got it, boss."
"How's your aunt?" He inquired, making small talk.
