28. What a bunch of A-holes

"I'm Hooked on a Feelin!"

Peter's POV

I found myself caught in an awkward position, unable to decide where to go or what to do. Rocking back and forth on my heels, I twiddled my thumbs, but it quickly bored me. I glanced over at Y/N, who was engrossed in a conversation with her brother, Pietro. However, Pietro's unpredictable nature made me hesitate to approach them, fearing that my presence might startle him. So, I remained stranded in the middle, feeling out of place.

My attention was abruptly drawn to Mr. Stark, who was making his way toward me. He halted right in front of me, and I could sense the gravity of his impending words. With a swift motion, he extended his hand, forming his fingers into a straight arrow-like shape, and tapped both of my shoulders in a ceremonial knighting gesture. "All right, kid," he spoke, his voice carrying a sense of authority. "You're an Avenger now." He then walked past me,  I couldn't help but break into the biggest smile I had ever worn in my life.

"Uh, Mr. Stark," I began, turning to address him, but he had already vanished. My shoulders slumped in disappointment. I had wanted to ask him about Y/N. I hurried over to where Y/N and Pietro were seated. Ignoring Pietro's presence completely, I settled down next to them.

"Who's that?" He asked as he pointed towards me. Before I could respond, Y/N interjected, "That's Peter. He's Spider-Man." A sudden understanding dawned on Pietro, and he nodded in acknowledgment, saying, "Ohhh."

Y/N added another revelation, stating, "We're also dating." Despite not having seen his sister in years, Pietro's protective instincts kicked in, causing his posture to straighten, his shoulders squared, and his demeanor to become more guarded. I swallowed nervously, sensing the shift in his mood. Y/N seemed to sense the tension, "Did you want to tell me something?" She asked breaking the silence

"Oh! Yeah," I exclaimed, my excitement bubbling over. "Mr. Stark said I'm an Avenger." The joyous news made me kick my feet childishly. Y/N smiled faintly in response.

"Good, it's about time," she remarked, causing me to halt my foot-kicking.

"He walked off before I could ask him about you, though," I confessed, my disappointment evident in my voice.

"I doubt he would, Pete, but I appreciate it," Y/N reassured me. 

"Why are you dating my sister?" Pietro interjected, directing his question toward me. I glanced at him, finally realizing that he was no longer restrained. The webs that had once ensnared him had disappeared. Startled, I jumped up and instinctively grabbed Y/N, pulling her close to me.

"Peter, what the heck?" Y/N exclaimed, surprised by my sudden action.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Pietro interjected, leaping to his feet as well.

"He's not webbed," I stammered, my voice betraying a mixture of fear and confusion. I extended my arm defensively, 

Y/N freed herself from my grasp and stepped forward, placing herself between Pietro and me. "I know. I took them off. It's okay," she assured him, raising her hands in a calming gesture. Pietro studied me intently, then shifted his gaze to Y/N, whispering something to her. She smiled and nodded, responding, "I lucked out."

"You still haven't answered my question," Pietro persisted, his tone firm.

"Hey, guys, might wanna hang onto something!" Mr. Stark's voice echoed through the ship, grabbing everyone's attention. I turned my gaze towards the window and noticed that the ship was hurtling toward the ground with alarming speed. In response to the impending crash, I instinctively reached out to Y/N, attempting to protect her. The ship collided with the ground, causing all of us to tumble and fall amidst the chaos. The vessel bounced a few times before finally settling with a heavy thud. As I found myself lying on the ground next to Y/N, I turned to her, concern etched on my face.
