Connor's P.O.V (Remade)

I've called just about everyone. Granted, they were all half-asleep, but none of them had heard from him. Rich won't pick up, so I assume he's helping Michael get some people online. As for me, I'm getting ready to call Larry and ask if he's still home and if I could use his car. I know it will turn into a fight, it always does, I just.. need to find him.

My phone vibrates, not very uncommon in this moment.

I ignore the misspelling from a half-asleep, probably drunk guy, and click off my phone, staring over at my mug on the coffee table in front of me. Steam is still pooling off of it, sliding down the sides or ascending through the top. Then I look over to her, his mother, holding her mug tightly. You'd think she'd be devastated, but she just stared into the steam back down through the cup. She sets it down after a while, slowly turning to look at me. "He did this before." I physically feel my eyes widen. "He-- why?" She closes her eyes. "It was after he passed. It wasn't really running away, he told Evan." Hearing his name now makes me want to slam my head through something. 

"And of course, I mean, they were friends.. best friends. So I just, well... I thought they could take care of each other for a day or two." She breathes in. "It's when they didn't come back for three that scared me." I don't dare say anything, waiting for this story to continue. "We rounded up a neighborhood search team and found them trying to hike to Colorado and live off of nuts and berries, or something." I slide my cup off the table and into my hands. "Why Colorado?" "Well,"

"It's where Evan's dad moved, they thought they could just hike there and live with him." I feel my phone buzz but I don't check it. "He wasn't really the same after that, you know? And I... Evan drifted away from him." She laughs, it's empty as fuck. "Now he's practically 18 and at it again, eh?" I can see her eyes water up. I get up, get closer to her, side hugging her. "I know how hard it is to--" I think of all the people who've just drifted away from me in my life. "To lose people. And- he'll come back. Or I'll convince him somehow, I promise. I.." She pushes a loose strand from her messy bun out of her face. "I love him too. He knows that we-- care about him." She smiles, rubbing an eye. "You two aren't just friends, are you?" I shake my head. "No, no.. we, uh." My phone buzzes again, multiple times. 

"Oh. I should probably check that." I try and cool my face off as best as possible as I walk into the other room with my phone in-hand. I click it on.

zoesistermurphy: y tfuqs a kid from my old band class texting me and saying hes friends with u im trying to have a movie marathon bitch

mfucker: kid from yr old band class? idk who is he?

zoesistermurphy: michael mell or sum shit

zoesistermurphy: said he needs a search crew or sth wtf is wrong with yr friends

mfucker: he was being dumb and most likely drunk haha so dont worry abt it-

zoesistermurphy: connor.

mfucker: zoe?

zoesistermurphy: thehellishappening

mfucker: you wouldnt wanna get involved

zoesistermurphy: so it is sth then?

mfucker: why do you care.

zoesistermurphy: oh dont start w/that

zoesistermurphy: just tell me it might be serious

mfucker: my boyfriwnd just ran away so fuck off

mfucker: im not in the mood rn

zoesistermurphy: actually ran away or dumped u?

mfucker: actually ran away.

mfucker: well, drove.

zoesistermurphy: any idea where he is/might be?

mfucker: no

zoesistermurphy: meet me at the house

mfucker: what?

zoesistermurphy: just do it connor

mfucker: fine.

I walk to the living room, stuffing my phone in my pocket. "I'm gonna find him." I state, grabbing the mug and taking a sip. "But for now, my sister wants me home. So I'll see you soon, alright?" She nods, breathing in, then out, making her chest puff up, then go back to its regular size. "Sure."
