Migraines are Total BS

I've had migraines since I was a junior in high school, so a damn long time. They periodically get way worse and sometimes they hang around for a week or more. I used to get them more often when I was younger and lived in Chicago. I've also had them for so long and taken so many drugs I'm immune to most pain killers so there is no relief for me.

For those who aren't familiar with them, migraines can be triggered by any number of things and it's generally different for every sufferer. A trigger can be anything from a weather change to alcohol, to hormones, to a food you ate, or any other number of things. It isn't 'just a headache', it is mind numbing horrific pain to the point you want to smash your head into a wall. It annoys the hell out of me when someone goes, "Just take some aspirin you'll be fine." That isn't how migraines work.

My migraines have several triggers and I can't always predict when one will crop up. For the most part mine are affected by weather changes, when the barometric pressure changes I usually get a headache, most of the time before a storm. Alcohol also affects them so even one drink will make me want to die. Stress doesn't make my head happy either.

All in all, I would rather they went away. It sucks because it affects my life in a major way. It's difficult to work when you want to puke and die. And considering I'm self employed, there are no sick days. If I need to stay home and hide in the dark I make zero money, which makes me stress, which give me a headache, which makes me stay home ...

It's an endless cycle and it sucks.
