Chapter 1 Him

Harry's Pov

"Harry!!!" A loud and wild voice shrieked, bursting into my room, making the door slam against the wall. I jumped upright, blinking away the blurriness in my eyes to only then be jumped by Lottie who landed heavily on my gut.

I groaned in pain and she immediately apologized, scooting back to rest on my thighs.

"Jeez, Lottie, what time is it? How did you even get in here?" I asked tiredly, peaking at the wild blonde woman shrieking and barging into my room when it was barely even eight.

"Your father already left for work and I know where you keep your spare key!" Lottie, my best friend, wiggled happily in my lap.

Lottie has been my best friend ever since we could walk. She had been there for me through everything; like when my father told me the truth about my mum and when I had come out to her and even when I told her my biggest secret.

Or well, its more like she found out herself.

It happened during the summer, like this one, where we had just barely turned ten. Me and her went out to the beach together and my father was there but he didn't keep up with us because, well, he mainly didn't care enough.

It happened when we stepped into the water in our secret place at the rocky cliff near the end of the beach where no one dared to go because it was said thats where the sharks like to hang out. Of course, me and Lottie didn't care as we went into the water but then my feet disappeared and I sprouted a tail for the first time.

I was completely transfixed on it, not the least bit of scared that is until I almost drowned.

Lottie did too seem interested but was also fearful because we didn't know what it was or what I was or if my legs would come back.

But with the help of a friend, they helped me out of the water and thats when I feared my legs would never grow back. Ever since that day, lottie became protective of me andy secret as my friend had warned me and told me everything that is about mermaids.

"Why are you so energetic and happy? Its too early for this," I groaned tiredly, rubbing my sore eyes

Lottie slapped my head playfully and I glared at her but her smile merely grew.

"Louis is coming back!!" She squealed, jumping off my lap to pace instead. I blinked, her words hitting their mark.

I sat up. "Wait, your older brother, Louis?"

Lottie rolled her eyes playfully. "Well, duh! Who else? My mum got a call from him late last night and she told me the news right as I woke up! He's coming back today for the whole summer! God, I missed him so much! Its been so long since we've seen him..."

As Lottie rambled on, I tried my best to listen but my thoughts consumed me. It had been two years since Louis left for college and since then, he had been entirely too busy to visit, only being able to FaceTime and call.

I had got to meet him when I was young and as I grew older, I couldn't help but to develop a crush on him. I never told Lottie about it because I didn't know what she would think.

I was going to but then he announced that he was leaving and wouldn't be coming back for awhile. I remembered that day when he left, the quick hug he gave to me and the tears he left behind. I stayed with Lottie and comforted her as she cried before even shedding a few tears myself.

But at the news of his return, my heart raced.

Back then, to him, I was just a little kid with wild curly hair, barely stumbling onto puberty.
