Wesley Montgomery was in his last year of middle school wishing and hoping he's going to the same highschool as his friends especially his best friend and secret boyfriend David Thompson who's parents were best friends with and it Wes' father Wesley Montgomery Senior and David's father Connor Thompson that had Wes and David's lives planned out so they could take over the law firm together. Wes was in his room reading his favourite novel when Wes' father had called him and his mum Sophia Montgomery to the dinner table with news that unbeknownst to Wes would crush his hopes of wanting to go to the same highschool as his friends and secret boyfriend.
Wes walked down from his room to sit at the dinner table across from his parents when his dad spoke to him and his mum but mainly Wes himself, and Wes knew that he was once again going to a school his father used to go to and was once again going to throw that he his father's son is a legacy card on Wes himself and his mother Sophia will agree and be on his father's side which Wes hated a lot, especially since it always happened even down to Wes playing lacrosse because his father played lacrosse and it didn't exactly help that Wes is also named after his father as well. All Wes wanted was to break free from being a legacy thanks to his dad. Wes was even terrified that his parents would force him into a relationship, even though Wes was already in one.
Wes sat silently as his dad spoke.
"I called you around to discuss Wes' highschool studies." Wes knew by how his father spoke about highschool that his hopes of going to the same highschool as his friends were crushed and wasn't going to happen.
Wes looked down, deeply sighed, looked at his dad and said
"What highschool am I going to dad?" Wes' father looked at his son and smiled widely and said
"You're going to my old highschool Dalton Academy. You got your acceptance letter for the school today, it's in your blood to go to that school." Wes couldn't believe it, he was once again going to the school his father went to first it was the same middle school as his father and now it was the same highschool as his father.
Wes folded his arms and said
"You want me to join the warblers like you did too when you were in highschool?" Wes' parents couldn't believe that their son spoke back like that.
Wes' mum Sophia softly spoke to her son
"Don't talk to your father like that. You should be grateful and honoured to go to Dalton where your father went to. You're a legacy Wesley. You know that means something, especially at a school like Dalton. It will look great on college applications Wesley to get you into an Ivy League School." At those words Wes stayed quiet and hated that he was a legacy because of his dad.
A few weeks later Wes reluctantly walked into Dalton. The very school his dad went to. As he walked into his dorm he heard
"I didn't know you were going to school here too Wes." Wes immediately looked up and saw David Thompson standing in the door way on the dorm room bathroom.
Wes smiled widely, closed the dorm door behind him, walked over to David and kissed him. And when they pulled a part the kiss, Wes looked at David lovingly and said
"I didn't know you were attending here." David hugged Wes and then said
"One the perks of being a Dalton legacy I guess." Wes knew how much David hated being a legacy because of his father and his mother always siding with his dad and not David. It was pretty much like Wes' parents and like David, Wes hated it. Its because of their parents, Wes and David couldn't tell their parents or anyone that they were together.
They pulled apart the hug so Wes could finish unpacking his things, and David said
"You auditioning for the warblers. If we did it would make our parents especially our dad's happy because they're warbler legacy too. It will give them to satisfaction." Wes neatly put his vests away in the closet and said
"He already wants me to do so, so I basically have no choice." David gave a small smile and said
"I know its besides the point, but at least we can sing Love." Wes looked over his shoulder and said
"I know we can. But we should only be auditioning because we want to do so, not because of our last name, and our fathers. It should be our choice not theirs." David walked over to Wes and wrapped his arms around him from behind and said
"I know but at least there's one thing that they don't have control over, and that's because they don't know about it." Wes sighed contently in David's arms and said
"Oh yeah and what's that Love?" David kissed Wes' cheek and said
"Us being together. They don't control our relationship Wesley, and they aren't going to do so. This is something they aren't controlling and." Wes was curious on what more David had to say and said
"And what?" David unwrapped himself from Wes and turned him around so Wes was facing him and said
"They don't control our time at Dalton either. They may want us to join the warblers, but it's our choice if we do so."
Wes knew David was right and said
"You're right and we should join anyway because we love to sing."
A few days later Wes and David walked to the Warbler room together to audition for the show choir team.
After their audition the male soloist of the group invited both Wes and David to the Warblers.
And as soon as they got into the warblers, the first thing they did was notify their parents especially their dads.
