Nick was nervous because today was his and Jeff's first valentine's day together but as he was thinking about it, he was reminded that today is also the day that he and the warblers were to perform to Jeremiah for Blaine with an upset Kurt. Which honestly makes Nick uncomfortable to do so, and if he's being honest he didn't want to do this for Blaine for many reason one of which is that Blaine was selfish when it came to things like this and didn't like sharing the spotlight at all even though they have solo auditions in the warblers. Nick thinks if Blaine wants to sing to this Jeremiah at the mall in Jeremiah's work Blaine should do so himself and perform the song himself, because as it was Nick had to put his own valentine's day plan for Jeff on hold and also because Nick thinks Blaine should be used to having to sing to everyone while everyone just swayed in the background and did nothing while the warblers made him look good.
Nick started to wonder if the guys would miss him and Jeff if they miss the performance because it's just the same thing that they do all the time showcase Blaine, even if they do auditions for solos it didn't matter because it just went to Blaine. Nick never understood why Blaine got the solos when most of the time he doesn't even audition.
Nick was fixing up his blazers and tie in the mirror preparing to performance with and for Blaine but this time to a random guy the warblers didn't know when Trent walked in and said
"You ready for your big plans for Jeff? He will love it Nick I promise." Nick sighed and said
"I'm not doing it anymore because of having to sing to someone named Jeremiah for Blaine and none of us know who he is, so we shouldn't be doing this at all especially because we can't perform in a shop anyway. Its not fair you know. Having to work around him and make him look good and put whatever we have planned to waste because Blaine wants to do something. You know why do we have solo auditions if it's just going to go to Blaine like it always does, i audition three times and Jeff six times and we never get anywhere because of Blaine having to be the star its more than just him on the team." Trent felt for Nick. Trent knew how much Nick resented Blaine in instances like this. Trent always wished that he and Nick were on the warbler counci with Thad instead of Wes, David. Trent knew it was because of Wes and David that Blaine got everything and that Thad fights for everyone in the team including Nick and Jeff themselves.
Trent never understood why Wes and David asked Thad to be on the Warbler Council with them when they always block Thad's ideas and he has to play a part. He watched his friend and said
"You can still do your plan Nick. Don't let this and Blaine ruin this. It's yours and Jeff's first valentine's day together as a couple, and Blaine knew it was, don't let him ruin this day for you and Jeff. Keep your plans Nick. Don't let show casing Blaine all the time keep you from celebrating your love. And Jeff will love your plan okay. As soon as the performance is over, leave right away and set up everything, I'll take Jeff to where he needs to be for you."
Nick nodded his head and then said
"I will and thank you" Trent gave a small smile as he stood up and said
"Your welcome and come on, we have to do this for Blaine. If we don't you know what Wes is like." Nick sighed, stood up and followed Trent out of his dorm wishing he didn't have to perform at the mall just for Blaine.
After the performance was done Nick left the scene right away, to prepare everything he was planning for Jeff. To Nick the day had to be special because it was their first Valentine's Day together but Nick also knew that Jeff liked the little things better too.
After packing everything in the picnic basket and also changing out of his Dalton into something more comfortable, Nick left for Jeff's favourite spot which was in the park. He placed the picnic blanket on the ground in the park under Jeff's favourite tree, and placed everything out even origami flowers painted green in Jeff's favourite colour too.
After a while Trent dropped Jeff off at the park. Jeff was nervous at what Nick had planned in the park for them. Jeff was worried because after the performance he didn't see his boyfriend at all.
When strolled through the park looking for Nick, he immediately saw his boyfriend by a tree. It was Jeff's favourite tree because of how oddly unorthodox it looked and to Jeff it was beautiful. Jeff was in awe at the setting under the tree and said
"You did all this for me. You're so sweet Nicky." Nick blushed and handed Jeff the origami flowers and Jeff kissed Nick and said
"I love them. But I'm sorry I didn't get you anything Nicky. We were so busy preparing Blaine's thing that I forgot and also didn't have time." Nick gave a smile and said
"Don't worry about it Jeffy. It's our first valentine's day and getting to spend it with you and enjoy this picnic with your favourite foods and favourite lollies is enough for me."Jeff kissed nick's cheek. And it was times like this Jeff knew why he loved Nick.
Jeff sat down on the picnic blanket and encouraged Nick to do the same and said
"Come sit Nicky." Nick sat down next to Jeff and said
"Happy Valentine's Day my love." Jeff leaned forward, gave him a quick kiss and said
"Happy Valentine's Day my sweet Nicky."
