Thad was sitting in the Lima bean watching his step sister and best friend from afar. He hated feeling like this. It all started months ago when his best friend Sebastian moved into their dorm after living in Paris, and Rachel was in the dorm crying because of Finn. Thad hated how Finn controlled and treated his sister. While she left him to go to the bathroom, their dorm room opened, and Thad walked out from his closet bringing Rachel's pyjamas out, he saw him. The most beautiful human being, with the perfect chiseled face and jaw line and the perfect emerald green eyes, and Thad swore he lost breath. He blinked, took a deep breath and said
"I'm Thad. I'm guessing you're my new room mate." Sebastian smiled at him and said
"I am, I'm Sebastian, Sebastian Smythe. I recently transferred from France actually, my brother would be starting here in two years actually." As Sebastian said that, he noticed the girly pyjamas in Thad's hands and said
"Should I come back later, since you got a girl over." Thad was confused and then looked down in his hands and said
"Right. Um that. I do have a girl over, but it's not what you think, the girl is actually my step sister." Thad looks up at Sebastian and continued
"She's going through horrible relationship stuff with her horrible controlling boyfriend, and when that happens she likes to sleep over." Sebastian not knowing who Thad was talking about, felt for the girl, and said
"It's okay, and if she wants she can have the bed, I can sleep on the floor tonight. I really don't mind." Thad was surprised at what his roommate had just said, and said
"Actually she normally sleeps in my bed or the floor as it what makes her comfortable." As he said that, Rachel walked out the bathroom and blushed when she saw Sebastian.
That had been it, and from then on, they started hanging out together and started to become a couple which unnerved Thad because of his feelings for the French boy.
He hated the feeling, hated that he feels like this towards his step sister's boyfriend, but he wasn't going to ruin Rachel's happiness because after all Rachel had been through, she deserves happiness in her life, especially since she was the one that always had to sacrifice her own happiness for her team that never actually cared about her.
Thad watched Sebastian making Rachel laugh, and he felt sick in the stomach as he wanted to be the one that Sebastian made laugh like that, but he wasn't, and he could never be upset about the fact that Rachel is happy and in love.
As he watched on he heard
"It's great seeing her happy isn't it Thad?" Thad turned and saw Blaine. He then watched his sister and his best friend together and said
"Yeah it is." Blaine knew that Thad had feelings for his step sister's boyfriend. It wasn't exactly a secret to him. He knew how much Thad was hating this, he looked at Thad and said
"I know it isn't easy Thad." Thad turned to Blaine and said
"What do you mean?" Blaine gave him a look that said he knew about his feelings for his sister's boyfriend, Thad looked down and then at him and said
"How did you know Blaine?" Blaine felt for Thad and said
"It isn't exactly a secret, everyone at Dalton but Sebastian and Rachel know." Thad watched his sister and his crush laugh and talk.
Rachel knew Sebastian's feelings for Thad, she was only pretending to be Sebastian's girlfriend as Sebastian wasn't exactly open to everyone about his sexuality because of what happened at his last school which made him be at Dalton. Rachel always encouraged Sebastian to tell the warblers, but he always brushed it off fearing for the worst. Sebastian sat across from Rachel and she said
"You should tell them Seb, well at least Thad. He's your best friend, he won't judge you for anything." Sebastian didn't know what to do and he said
"Exactly he's my best friend, and I don't want to ruin that, and how do you exactly know that he won't judge Broadway?" Rachel softly spoke
"Because Thad's gay too. He knows what it's like to be bullied and hurt for being gay. I always protected him from it. He's my step brother. I want him happy, and I know he will be with you. I promise you that if or when you tell Thad, he will accept you for you. I promise." Sebastian was unsure, he wanted to believe but the people at his last school weren't exactly the nicest, and it was his younger brother Skylar who had protected him. Sebastian sighed and said
"Fine. But you have to be there with me. And I'm only telling Thad. Noone else." Rachel squeezed his hand and said
"Whenever you're ready Seb. And I'll be there when you tell him."
A few days later Sebastian sat on his bed with Rachel waiting for Thad to walk in. Rachel could tell Sebastian was nervous and she said
"You don't have to do this if you aren't ready." Sebastian shook his head and said
"If I don't, I'll never tell him. He deserves to know he's my best friend." It was then Thad walked in, closed the door and said
"Tell me what exactly. You are eloping right?" Sebastian and Rachel shook their heads and Sebastian said
"Its something else. And no she isn't pregnant. Thad take a seat." Thad sat on his bed across from Sebastian and Rachel and said
"What is it?" Sebastian took a deep breath and said
"Thad. Rachel and I aren't actually together."Thad was confused and relieved but mostly confused, and said
"What do you mean?" Rachel squeezed Sebastian's hand and said
"We've been pretending because Seb isn't exactly open with something. I agreed to help him." Sebastian sighed and said
"I'm gay. And outside of my family. Rachel was the only one to know until you now. And there's one more thing I need to tell you." Thad breathing hitched. He all of a sudden couldn't breathe. His crush was single and gay and not actually dating his step sister. The next thing Thad knew he felt a pair of lips on his own. He was shocked and surprised because Sebastian was kissing him. Sebastian pulled apart slightly afraid, and all Thad could do was smile widely lean forward and kiss him back and when they pulled apart for air Thad smiled at him and said
"I love you."
