"Y/N?"
I spun around quickly. Did I run into Camilo? No, why would he be behind me if I ran into him? Camilo did try to scare me earlier but the person I ran into didn't sound like Camilo. Their footsteps were quieter and breaths shakier. Who could it have been? Were they stealing something? Why did they run away?
"Y/N~, earth to Y/N" Camilo said much closer to me, he's almost directly in front of me now.
"Y-Yes?"
"What's going on?"
"I just thought I heard something, I guess."
"Ah, well I don't see anything? Maybe it was Casita?"
"Yeah," I paused, "maybe."
I shifted over a bit and turned my head back towards where the sound went. Maybe it was the house, Casita can move by itself after all.
"I'm sorry for leaving you earlier, I just got caught up in what Mirabel was saying." Camilo said with a nervous chuckle.
He sounded like he was scratching something? Maybe his neck? Is he that nervous? I'm not mad, it's to be expected.
"It's alright!" I beamed hoping to calm him down some.
"Is it?"
He sounds so sad, I'm really not mad. Maybe I can try to joke about it? If I make light of the situation surely it'll be easier to ignore. I'll just bring up the past, maybe telling him how bad other people are will make him feel better?
"Yeah! It's been way worse than being left in a room before." I waved my hand by my face as if trying to dismiss his worry.
"What? What do you mean?"
Oh no, he sounds worried, the wave did not work. That is not the reaction I was wanting. Maybe if I change the subject, he'll just forget about this?
"Nothing, let's get back to the party! Pa is going to be drinking and hanging out with his friends so I'm all yours, if you want."
"Oh- um- yeah sure! Let's go." Camilo hesitantly said before starting to walk beside me.
We walked back into Antonio's room with the rushing music and sounds of people cheering echoing around me once again. Camilo continued walking forwards before I grabbed onto his ruana.
"Is everything ok?" He questioned, his breathing quickening.
"Yeah, I just couldn't hear you anymore." I said with a bit of a chuckle.
Camilo let out a hm before continuing to walk with me following closely behind him. I slid my hand down so that there would be a bit more space between us expecting there to be more fabric than there was. I quickly learned Camilo's ruana is much shorter than Pa's. I immediately jumped back, putting my hands up, just to show I wasn't trying to do anything. Camilo started laughing,
"What are you freaking out about?"
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. He didn't notice, my hand barely touched the bottom of his shirt so it makes sense.
"Nothing, sorry." I quickly replied.
"Mhmmmm." Camilo suspiciously hummed back. He doesn't believe me. What do I do now? I heard him smile once again but then there was a huff. No- don't you dare.
"Don't worry, your highness. I understand completely."
"What exactly do you understand?" I questioned.
Does he think I'm some weirdo now?
"You want to dance, of course!"
"I do?" I stated without thinking.
"You do, yes!"
"But I don't- Akc"
Camilo had grabbed my hand without warning and pulled me with him.
"Don't worry, I'll teach you."
I nodded my head in response waiting for instructions.
"Take three steps forward then three back."
I tried my best only to make Camilo laugh.
"What? Is that not right?"
"No, no. You need to focus more on moving your hips than your legs. You're dancing, not walking."
I nodded my head again, starting the dance again. This time I gained less of a laugh and more of a gasp.
"Yes, that's great! You've got it! You're a natural!" Camilo beamed, this time I chuckled a bit.
We continued dancing for a while. Every once in a while Camilo would call out the word spin and then twirl me around. It was super fun, but I for one am not used to dancing nor do I know how to do it well, like Camilo. So it didn't take too long for me to get tired and tell him I needed to sit down.
Camilo left to go get some water for me as I sat off away from everyone else. The cheers had died down a lot and the music wasn't as loud. I'm sure it's getting late so most people have probably left.
"Here's your water, your highness."
"Why thank you, humble servant boy."
"Way too far, man." Camilo chuckled out with a pout.
"What? Would you have preferred peasant?"
"No," Camilo let out a sigh, "humble servant boy is nicer than peasant."
I started laughing at the large pout in his voice. I took a sip of the water feeling a lot better.
"How do you dance for so long?" I questioned.
"It's fun, I guess."
"Yeah, it's fun. But I know for a fact I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Those few minutes were more movement than I normally get in a month."
"No way! You have to be over exaggerating."
"Nope! Though it makes sense that it wouldn't bother you with all your constant running around with kids."
"Yeah, you're right." He let out a loud smile before a yawn.
"Oh, I didn't even consider how late it must be getting. I better get going."
"You don't have to, I'm still wide awake! We can keep talking!"
"Your yawn and slow sentences say otherwise, Camilo."
"Yeah, yeah." Camilo stood and let out a short sigh,
"Let me walk you to the door, at least."
I nodded my head following Camilo's voice as he made it to Antonio's door. We walked out and made it to the stairs where he tried helping but I just ended up sitting down and scooting down the stairs. Gaining large amounts of laughter from Camilo but I had fun.
He walked me to the door of Casita before we said our goodnights. I continued down the path from Casita into the town listening for the fountain. As I heard the trickling water I took my steps home and went to my room. I changed from what I assume are extravagant clothes into some more comfortable pajamas before laying down for the night.
