New York has a lot of different sounds to it. It's completely different to Brooklyn somehow.
The cliche saying of New York never sleeps is so true. Whilst my apartment is quite high up and the windows are super thick so I can hardly hear the outside world, I love sleeping with my window open. The echo of the world below, soothing me to sleep.
Brooklyn at night had a different sound to it during the day, whilst New York is constantly bustling and it's hard to tell what time it is off sound alone. The sound of police car's siren filling the air has to be to the most relaxing sound. Something about a siren in the distance is so calming to me, which I understand is weird. But I can't explain it.
Harry decided to stay in his own apartment tonight. We had the whole of yesterday together after the most perfect day together. I still can't believe he has that side to him that plans surprise picnics in the park and watch soppy movies together. He said he needed to talk to James this evening so invited him over for a meal, but said I needed some rest and time away from this all whilst I can. I didn't argue with him over it, I am exhausted.
I also realised Katie hadn't been to see my new place since I moved in here since she texted me this morning saying she missed me. We've both been busy with either work or our boys, which is terrible of us. We've both sucked at keeping up with one another. There's so much I wish I could tell her about Harry, Sam, James and all of it. But it's up to Joe to tell her, since he's sort of involved with this as well. But she doesn't need to know. It's better for her not to know.
I stocked up with all our favourite snacks, brought my duvet down to the sofa, grabbed some face-masks for us and got some wine in. Whilst I can't tell her about Harry's business, I can tell her everything else that he's done for me, and I can ask all about Joe. I never thought I could miss having a girly catch up as much as I have.
The doorbell rings and I jump up to let her in. I told the concierge downstairs that I was expecting her and to let her right up. Before I open the door, I feel a wave of anxiety flood my chest. I can't help but wonder if everything will be different now that we haven't seen in each other like this for ages, that we've grown apart and it's time we let each other go. I take a deep breath, push a smile forwards and swing the door open.
"Bitch, This is some next level fancy shit!" Katie shouts before throwing her arms around my shoulders. Instantly, the anxiety disappears and I know nothing has changed.

"A surprise picnic?" She questions with her jaw nearly detached from her face, "Are we talking about the same Harry?" I laugh at how crazy this must sound to her all. The side she sees of Harry is completely different to the Harry I get to be with. She leans over to the coffee table to grab the bottle of win and refills both our glasses, placing the empty bottle next to the other two empty bottles. "Well, I'm glad you're happy. You really deserve it, Dais'." I smile back at her as I appreciate her acceptance of him, it means a lot to me.
"Joe's lucky to have you as well. I'm sorry I've been completely MIA, but I'm glad you've had Joe. Everything seems to be going well, he blushes every time he talks about you." It means so much to me to see Katie with someone like Joe.
"Well, he's sort of the reason I'm here. He's been dying to talk to Harry about this all but I said I needed to tell you first before agreeing to anything." Katie says with a smug smile on her face. I feel my whole body freeze as I anticipate what she's going to say. "We're moving in together." She flinches as she says, unsure of how I'm going to react. I quickly set my wine glass down before screaming and jumping up to hug her.
"Oh my god!" This is a big deal for us. She's never lived with a boyfriend before. I remember she once broke up with a guy because he asked for her to move in, she usually runs away from serious relationships. "Katie, I'm so so happy for you two. This calls for champagne!" I quickly jump up and grab a bottle from the fridge in the kitchen. It was meant for last night with Harry but as soon as we got home we become...preoccupied. I pass the bottle to Katie to allow her to do the honors.
