Today was the one day you despised with your whole heart. Whenever it rolled around, you found yourself hiding in your room, sulking as you ate a tub of ice cream and binged yet another romance movie, longing for the same sort of relationship you always saw on the screen.

Yes, it was Valentine's Day, if you couldn't already tell.

On the ship, however, Valentine's Day was hardly anything big. Sure, Lance had gotten Allura and yourself a small gift, claiming that it was only the best for the 'two most beautiful girls he had ever laid eyes on, but that was about it in terms of festivity, and you had resumed your ritual just as normal, not expecting visitors.

Now, you were sitting on your bed in your favourite pair of pyjamas and some fluffy socks, ice cream in hand, yelling at the screen as the main character of the movie got with the wrong guy once again. Of course, you didn't get the chance to finish your cursing as a knock on the door sounded, making you jump and hit your ankle on the base of the bed, whining as you did so.

"Coming,", you groaned, placing your ice cream tub on the bedside table and brushing yourself off as you walked to the door and watched it open.

"What the hell are you doing holed up in here?", Pidge asked, pushing her glasses up. "You said you'd help me work on the green lion, like, hours ago!", your eyes widened,  having only now realised that you did, in fact, tell your friend that you would assist her in adding yet another invention of hers to her lion.

"Oh, shit, yeah! I'm so sorry, Pidge. I'll be with you in a second, I just need to change,", you apologised, going to return to your room and put something more presentable on, but she wasn't having any of it. Instead of letting you change, she simply grabbed your arm, dragging you along with her to the hangar of her lion. "What are you doing?"

"You'd take too long to get changed, and it's not as if anyone's gonna see you, so pyjamas are fine,", sighing, you agreed with her, rubbing your arms slightly as a chill hit you. Being in pyjamas, you were wearing a tank top, so it wasn't the warmest of things to be wearing outside of bed.

"Did we really have to leave before I could grab a jacket? It's freezing,", you whined. She turned to face you, merely rolling her eyes before continuing to walk, you following behind her at a slightly slower pace. "What's so urgent that we have to be there straight away, though?"

"You'll see,", the smirk was practically audible in her voice, and it made you a tad nervous, knowing the only time she smirked was when she knew something you didn't. "Now will you please hurry up? If you're any slower, I'm pretty sure I'll have to carry you there,"

"Message received, Pidge. But seriously, do you have a spare jacket or something in your lion?", she nodded, and you let out a breath of relief as you reached the hangar, eager to put something more on to save you from freezing to death. You stopped in your tracks, however, upon seeing someone standing at the lion's entrance, holding a bouquet.

"I'll leave you two to be,", Pidge smirked, winking and making a heart motion with her hands as she walked out. Rolling your eyes at her, you looked forward awkwardly, unable to meet the eyes of the ravenette who stood a few feet away from you, a nervous smile on his lips.

"Uh, hey?", he greeted, taking a few steps forward and holding a bouquet of what you assumed to be flowers out for you to take. Smiling at the gesture, you took them from his hands, pecking his cheek in thanks.

"Thank you for these, Keith. They're beautiful,", a blush broke onto his face at your gratitude, and he ran a hand through his fringe, seeing as he had tied the majority of his mullet into a little bun on the back of his head. "But how come you got me flowers?"

"Well, I wanted to ask,", he paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I wanted to ask if you'd be my valentine? It's okay if you don't want to be, I've just liked you for a while and I didn't know how to tell you, so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to,"

"I'd love to be your valentine, Keith,", you smiled, wrapping your arms around his neck and bringing him into a hug. He returned the gesture, arms going around your waist before pulling away, seeming to realise that you were in pyjamas.

"Uh, are those--"

"Yep, they are. Pidge wouldn't let me get changed or grab a jumper, so now I'm cold and embarrassed,", you answered, cutting him off as you knew what he was going to ask. Chuckling, he slipped his jacket off, placing it over your shoulders to provide you with some warmth. "I, thanks,"

"No problem. Hopefully, you'll be warmer now,", he replied, rubbing the back of his neck. "So, do you wanna do something? I had a few things in mind, but I didn't want to commit to anything in case you said no,"

"I'd love to! What do you have in mind?", you asked, looking up at him expectantly.

"Maybe we could just sit in Red and talk for a bit? Like, get to know each other a little more?", he suggested, waiting for your approval.

"Sounds good! And to save time, I might as well go like this,", you shared a laugh, and he slung an arm over your shoulder, the two of you sharing small talk as you made your way to his lion, where you were met with the sight of multiple blankets and pillows on the floor, along with a laptop on the floor, a note stuck to the screen.

'Hope this little set-up is okay! Hunk, Lance and I decided you might want somewhere comfy to sit and watch something, so we did this. Please return my laptop later, though! I'm using y/n's and it's horrible. - Pidge'

"That little shit,", you mumbled, pulling the note from the screen and putting it in Keith's jacket pocket before turning and facing said boy, a grin on your face. "So, movie?"

"Definitely,"

---

"Thank you for today, Keith. I loved it, and I'd love to hang out again sometime,", a few hours had passed, and it was now around the time everyone started going to bed, so Keith had generously offered to walk you back to your room, like the gentleman he was.

"It was nothing, really. Thank you for not rejecting me,", he laughed, wiping faux sweat off of his forehead. Joining in, you gave a laugh in response, the sound soon dying down and leaving the two of you to stare at each other happily, having found a new connection. "So, you really want to do something like that again?"

"Yes! I had a great time, and I meant to say this earlier, but I really like you too, Keith,", you admitted, looking down with a small blush. His hand reached to lift your face up, his body close to yours as his violet eyes bore into you.

"Say, how about we do something again tomorrow? I'm free from training, so we have all day to ourselves. And this time, you'll have time to get changed,", he suggested, caressing your cheek with his thumb.

"It's a date, Kogane,", you whispered, pressing a chaste kiss to his cheek once again before walking into your room, leaving him a flustered mess outside your door, doing a silent celebratory move as he walked away.

A/N: Hey reader, and happy early Valentine's Day! I hope you're having a great day/night, and that you enjoyed this one-shot! I wrote this all on my phone, since I'm currently waiting for a new laptop after my other one broke, so I apologise if there are any grammatical errors that my writing wouldn't normally have. But other than that, thank you for reading and I'll see you next time! - Gracie
