Voltron. It was a thing of your past, but it tied the group together in ways one could not explain. Because of this, you decided it was only fitting to have a reunion now and then, and today was the day the first of them would take place.

A year had passed since the world had been saved, the life of one of your dearest friends, Allura, being lost along the way. Despite this, however, you still loved the idea of reconnecting with your friends and their possible partners, though you see some of them every day. More specifically, Pidge, since the two of you had moved in together after returning home for good.

"Ready to go, y/n?", your friend asked as she walked into the room, jaw dropping as she saw your outfit. "Damn, you really pulled it out of the bag today, dude! Who are you tryna impress?", you flushed and shook your head, bending down to grab your converse before passing her and slapping the top of her head lightly.

"No one  I'm not trying to impress anyone, okay? It's just a special occasion, and I wanted to look nice,", you denied, sliding your shoes on and checking your hair once more before grabbing the car keys and walking out of the door, the small brunette hurrying after you.

"That's such a lie! You've liked Keith since you met him, don't even try denying it with me,", you sighed at her words. You knew she was right, but he'd never go for someone like you. In fact, you were pretty sure he saw you as an acquaintance and nothing more, considering he hardly ever talked to you on the ship.

"Okay, maybe I do. It doesn't matter, though. He'd never go for someone like me and I'm perfectly okay with being single,", you huffed, starting the car up.

"Yes, n/n! I like the independent woman attitude you got there!"

---

Right, maybe you had lied when you said you were fine with being single. Other than Pidge, it had occurred to you that you were probably the only single one of the group, and that fact was painfully obvious upon seeing the pairs of people sitting happily together, laughing about stories they shared together.

"Oh my god, and you were such a suck-up to my parents over Christmas, mi amor. You practically waited hand and foot on them,", Lance chuckled, his arm thrown around his girlfriend, Sabrina's, shoulder. The two had gotten together a while back, and their relationship was going strong.

"I just wanted to make a good impression on them,", she blushed, slapping his chest playfully before leaning into him, the Cuban boy pressing a kiss to her forehead. Internally, you gagged at the scene, but chose to keep quiet and act in awe of the couple, though jealousy was beginning to bubble up.

"So, y/n,", Shiro started, noticing you had been quiet the entire time. You hummed, looking to the older male with a small smile as you took a small sip of your wine. "You haven't told us anything about what you've been up to this year! Any partners on the scene?"

"Nope, I'm living the single life, Shiro. I'm too occupied with Pidge to have a partner, and apparently, people can sense it from a mile away,", you joked, though you meant it in a more bitter way. Frowning, he reached his hand over, placing it atop of yours as he gave you a look of sympathy.

"I'm sure that's not true. You're a wonderful person, and anyone would be lucky to have you. Maybe you just haven't met the right person yet,", he suggested, the others nodding along. Playing along, you nodded and downed the rest of your glass before rising from your seat and excusing yourself to go to the bathroom.

Mascara began running down your cheeks as you pushed the doors open, unable to hold the tears of frustration back anymore. You hated the way Shiro had pitied you back there, and how everyone just seemed to go along with it.
