For the good times.

Des's abilities surprised me. On the other hand, she was not wrong. With everything she had gone through in our world, plus dentistry, she knew something more about wounds and sicknesses than I did.

The whole day was spent helping the wounded. In the end, I decided to help myself. Not all my wounds had healed before. Especially the wound in my stomach that that corpse then went to open. It was bleeding every three or so. And the materials of that time were not enough in number or good in quality to heal me quickly.

The next day, it was a day of rest. Everyone had to rest. And the Sect leaders decided on a new strategy. The strategy was to move on, and after a fight rest for a while. I didn't know how long this would take us. But no one was worried about me back, my degree was waiting for me and I had a person of my own here. I could now move with my attention fully focused on my goal. I had nothing behind to worry about, since everyone back at home thought that I was vacationing.

The Sect leaders decided on the days we were waiting for rest, to work with various rogue cultivators who in those days would go to the places where the battles took place, to bring back any wounded or information about the monsters.

The good thing was, that I now understood what was happening around me. Des had explained everything to me. From the sects, how they work, to the rogue cultivators, to the corpses and to the powers. I no longer had to ask them to give me a piece of information to understand what was going on around me. Des was the moving encyclopedia for this era.

Now my friend and I were out and about, gazing at Gusu's landscape.

"But we want someone to know about medicine. We also know something, but if many have disappeared and may be injured, we, two rogue cultivators, cannot carry so many people on our backs."

I raised my eyebrows. I knew that voice.

"Unfortunately we need all of our healers here. Each sect has its own. And they are not so easily available to go to battle. The best of all sects are here in Gusu. And we need them here, at the base."

That was Lan Qiren's voice. He was right. Gusu had become the center of coordination. The rest of the Sect leaders had a long time to go back to their homes. I imagined how much they had in mind to arrange as soon as they went back.

I looked at Des next to me. She nodded. We both got up. And then we moved towards the voices.

"Sir, with all due respect. We decided to come here to help when we heard the news. We had encountered such a monster together with Sect leader Jiang. He will confirm it to you. But it is impossible for us to carry them all here. We want someone to help."

We turned the corner of the house and the backs of the two familiar cultivators appeared in front of us.

"Sect leader Jiang, like everyone else, is in bad shape. They are all hurt. And the healing staff, we need them all here," replied Lan Qiren.

I saw Alex's shoulders fall. He sighed.

 "I will come."

The figures turned and looked at us. I didn't say anything. The one who said...

I looked at Des next to me. Her look was determined, serious. I knew that look. The look that had calculated everything before and had made its decision. And no one would change it for her.

 "You are?" did Alex.

"We met again, but it doesn't matter that you don't remember. They call me Des. You told me to come here for help. When I was in the Burial Mountains," she replied.
