Chapter 12: Happiness

It's not something Therrie would do, but it's already done.

After everything she went through today, she feels so exhausted at gusto na lang niya magpahinga buong araw. But it won't help. Looking for an answer to her condition isn't just lying down around. Sa dalawampu't isang taong na nabubuhay siya, she hasn't found an answer to her underlying condition.

Napakasalimuot pero iyon ang kailangan niyang pagdaanan.

She doesn't even have a phone to call Arkin, she has a little amount of money for transportation pero sa tingin niya hindi rin siya aabot sa destinasyon niya. She could walk, but her mind and body is already tired to all of the things she went through. Para bang binugbog ang katawan niya.

She didn't mean to have sex with Hernan earlier, but just to distract him and get away with him, even if she disgust him with all the lies and actions he did behind her back, she swallowed her pride and acted as nothing happened. Like it was normal. Like she tried losing her sense of awareness and just going with the flow.

But she thought it felt good, but now that jealousy is tainted in hers, she couldn't tap it out of her mind. She couldn't forget how those people do those heinous acts even though they both know that there are relationships that will be ruined and yet, they continued because who wouldn't want some pleasure?

His desire to fulfill it can't be undone. Therrie won't ever come back to the man who treated her like shit.

Therrie wait for a bus to get into. Sapat lang ang ibabayad niya dahil ang pera niya ay naiwan niya sa bahay ng parents niya. She doesn't want to come back there so she has to move forward. Barya na lang ang natira sa kanya pero kakayanin niyang tiisin ito.

Nang may humintong bus ay sumakay na si Therrie. She paid for her ride until she reached the boundary to the town. Isang sakay pa sana papasok sa loob para diretsyo na makapunta sa apartment na tinutuluyan ni Arkin, but she ended up walking towards the place and maybe it will help her since what happened earlier took a lot of time to process.

Kinabigla niya 'yon. She wasn't expecting to outburst like that, but she thought that her parents are aligned with what Hernan believed that's why their reaction is something she can't accept. And she felt betrayed how Zion spoke about her to him. Though he's not aware, but maybe he does, hindi na rin naman tinanong ni Therrie.

She really doesn't want to talk about it. That's why she left that place behind and not to reminisce about the time she spent there.

There's a lot of things going on inside her head while she was walking back to the apartment. Binilisan na rin niya ang paglalakad dahil baka may makakilala pa sa kanya. Nang marating niya ang unit ni Arkin ay pinagbuksan din naman agad ito ng pinto at pinapasok sa loob.

Gulat naman ang binata nang makita ang dalaga.

"Saan ka galing?" tanong nito. "Sa'n ka nag-stay?"

"Diyan lang," tipid na sagot ni Therrie.

Kumusot ang mukha ni Arkin nang sabihin iyon ng dalawa kaya nang lagpasan siya nito ay agad niyang hinablot ang braso nito. Nagulat din naman si Therrie sa ginawa nito kaya napatingin ito sa kamay ni Arkin na agad namang pinakawalan nito ang braso niya.

He rose his hands up. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that... I was just worried about you."

"It's fine." Napabitaw nang malalim na buntonghininga si Therrie. "I shouldn't have said anything." Humugot nang malalim na hininga si Therrie. "I stayed in my parent's house and you know what happened next..."

"Was it bad?" he asked.

Therrie pressed a smile on her lips, though it's much visible to see the pain in her eyes. "But you know what, it's fine. I really don't care how bad they treated me. I just do what I think I needed to do. If they believe that they should be ashamed of my actions then they should go for it. Hindi ko naman sila pipigilan. I won't be against them, and if that's how they really want things to go on, I have no problem with it anymore. I have already a lot of problems on my plate and I can't add them up more."
