Have you ever had that feeling that something bad was going to happen but you couldn't put a finger on what it was? Everything made you jumpy or anxious. The usual things that would never bother a person, would send your nerves through the roof because of grim thoughts. For this particular moment, this explained Ava's current feeling as she tried out a yoga technique Ary showed her for pregnant women.
It was going on seven in the evening and the ladies were still waiting on the men to return. They claimed to have thought they heard some wolves and called themselves hiding out under some large bush. To say that she was hungry and oddly anxious was an understatement. She had no idea where the nerves came from but hoped things were fine with the men. It seemed as if they always ended up in some trouble outside of the surveillance of the women.
Mid bridge pose, there was a knock on the bedroom door, and Ava wanted to ignore it.
Groaning, she lowered and sat up, "Yeah?"
"It's mi," Reign peeked inside.
"Oh, hey," she smiled, "Wassup?"
Looking behind her, Reign entered the room, "How are yuh?"
Confused by her odd behavior, Ava stared at her, "Good... you?"
"Um... We should talk."
There was that eerie feeling again and Ava slowly stood, "Ok..." she sat on the bed and stared at her sister, "Is it bad?"
Sliding her hands into her pockets, Reign leaned against the dresser, "Maybe..."
Ava's brows creased in wonderment as she slid back, "Ray."
"Before yuh get upset... let mi explain."
Upset? Ava thought as her heart rate sped up. Upset for what?
"Ok?" Reign stared at her.
"I don't know," she took a deep breath, "What is it? Shawn?"
Shaking her head, Reign sighed, "Mi... and Lucky."
Ava's heart dropped. Did she hear that right? "Excuse me?"
"Let mi explain."
Staring at her crazily, Ava rubbed her forehead, "Hurry..."
Clearing her throat, Reign closed her eyes, "I um... yuh know I love yuh."
"Ray!" Ava shrieked, "Spit it out!"
"I'm sorry," her voice softened, "It was an accident... I swear."
There it was, the vomit. Ava felt it. It was brewing. "Wh- wh... WHAT?!"
"Can yuh just... Ava calm down."
"Really?!" Her glossy eyes widened, "Calm down and you come in here guilt-driven, ready to come clean about something?! How am I supposed to be calm when tha' first words dat came out of your mouth were you and my damn fiancé?!"
"Let mi talk!" Reign screamed, "Damn!"
Staring at her incredulously, Ava rose, "What happened?"
"I wuz overwhelmed... losing mi mind and Lucky... he um... he got mi... he helped out a lot... with Neela-"
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Ava said to herself over and over but Reign kept talking in circles.
"SPIT IT OUT!"
Laughter and loud, excited talking came from downstairs but the women paid it no mind as they stared at each other. One, putting all sorts of scenarios together, tearing her heart into shreds. The other, wanting to forget she brought the conversation up but knew she couldn't. Especially after the tiny bomb she dropped.
