While the guys were getting prepared to play Monopoly, Reign was lounging in the family den throwing back drinks like it was juice. She was trying to quiet her guilt about what she did to Lucky and her sister. She had no explanation or reasoning. How would she admit that she found him attractive? It was disrespectful and foul play. The way she felt was out of order. Yeah, she loved that he stepped up and helped her with Neela when he could have declined.
She'd admit that she was attracted to the way he handled Neela and often asked about her. It was out of line and she played on her emotions in a way that she knew she should have never done. She couldn't take it back, and now she had her family tiptoeing around her and giving her weird gazes whenever she was around Ava and near Lucky. She wouldn't go that route or cross those boundaries again but she knew she would always be the person who made a pass at her little sister's man.
And now she had the guilt eating at her and Yae'Shawn nagging her. She didn't care much if they ever worked things out, he pushed her away and made her fall out of love with him before she even thought anything about Lucky. Yae'Shawn ruined their marriage with his lies and fears. She was his wife and he didn't even go to her for help. He left her. Avoided her and their daughter for years just because he was afraid of turning into his mother yet his absence in itself made him exactly like the person he was trying to avoid becoming.
"Yuh should stop," Kaari's voice cut into Reign's dreary thoughts.
"I'm... I'm nuh yur problem," she slurred, "Go ave fun," she flung her hand.
"Yuh nuh even drink, Ray," Kaari snatched the bottle from her, "Here," she forced a bottle of Gatorade into her hand, "Drink."
"Get away fram mi," she grimaced, reaching for the bottle but Kaari pushed her hand away.
"Yuh are nuh ruining dis night kaaz yur sad, yuh need to let it fuckin' go! Yuh are twenty-fuckin-nine, we're nuh kids anymore, so suck it up and put a fuckin' smile on yur damn face," glaring at her, Kaari pointed to the Gatorade before storming out.
"Don't mek no fuckin' sense," she grumbled, heading into the kitchen, she slammed the bottle down and lowered her head, "It's mum's birthday... let it go."
"Kaari?" Laiya called, entering the kitchen.
Taking a deep breath, she glanced at Laiya and quirked a brow.
"Um... you ok?"
"Mm-hmm," she hummed, leaning against the counter and tilted her head back, "Why aren't yuh playing any games?"
"I came to get another slice of cheesecake, Sy ate my strawberry one."
Nodding, Kaari kept her eyes to the ceiling before glancing at her, "What's dis I hear about yur mum being a prick?"
Laiya cringed at the term as she lifted the lid to the cheesecake, "Don't say that."
"Mi bad," Kaari chuckled, "Why is she being weird tho?"
"Did Sy tell you?"
"No," Kaari tucked her arms, "Doesn't matter who, but yuh should ave been said something."
"Yeah... I know," she sighed, sitting at the table, "Do you think my sister's gonna fight her?"
Kaari chuckled, "Mi mum ain't worried about dah, wi all know she can fight. It's my Gramps issue nuh hers."
