Birthdays are meant to be special. It's a celebration of life. Some choose to celebrate on a weekend if it falls on a weekend. Some choose to celebrate all week long and then some prefer not to celebrate at all. But whether a person celebrates their birthday or not, it will always be a reminder of growth and that you have been granted the blessing to live another day. It's a celebration of experiencing another lap around the sun and beating the odds. Overcoming trials and moments when you felt as if your existence on earth meant nothing.
But for Kairo, September 5th was just a typical day for him. It was his birthday, but he had everything he needed to be grateful for. Yet, Lucky just felt like celebrating with his future in-law. The weather was warm in the new city they currently were in, the roads were busier, and life was good.
While Ava and Ace were cooped up at Dajon's and Ary's place, Lucky and Zaire were helping Kairo enjoy his 23rd to the best of their abilities. But he didn't seem to want much other than simple things, but since the road trip was Lucky's idea, he figured he could and should suck it up and be thankful.
They got on the road by nine and made it to Williamsburg just to do some cruising. They cruised through Hampton and stopped to grab a bite to eat and capture a few pictures, then made it to Richmond. Zaire wanted to see what Petersburg looked like but since Lucky wanted a break, food, and to see what the hype with Richmond was about, that was where the trio decided to stop for the moment.
"Here is ass over deh ready to check on his wife-not-wife," Zaire cracked when Lucky removed his phone from his pocket.
"Didn't I tell yo ass, I'd leave you in'a ditch?" Lucky eyed him.
Kairo busted out laughing at the shock plastered on Zaire's expression. He wasn't sure if Lucky was joking.
"Annoying ass," shaking his head, Lucky clicked on Ava's contact.
Kairo and Zaire stopped in front of a store and peeked through the glass while a few locals walked by with shopping bags, food, or their kids running around. A little boy stopped in front of Lucky and offered him a lollipop.
"I 'ont do candy lil dude," Lucky chuckled.
"My mama said you cute," he grinned, displaying his missing bottom tooth.
"Tell yo-" pausing when a white woman approached, Lucky was a bit shocked that she was the mother of the little boy.
"Hi," she smiled, "I hope he wasn't being worrisome."
Lucky glanced at the little boy then at her and laughed to himself, "Enjoy yo day," he walked away before she could say anything else.
"Helloooo?" Ava called for the third time.
"Damn, forgot I called you," he laughed, sitting at a nearby table, "Wassup? Good morning."
"You can't be dat bored already," she snickered.
