Chapter Twelve: Happy Family

I was dreading sitting down to dinner. Hyunjin and Felix had been relentless with their teasing and Leeknow was in a foul mood. I sat on the edge of my, newly assembled, soft bed slowly unpacking some things from my room and deciding where to put them. Leeknow had shifted some things around so I had my own space and I was so grateful that he had accepted me into his life fully.

Well almost.

"You OK Ji?" He asked as he put the last of the boxes on the floor. I looked up and shrugged slightly. I toyed with the snow globe my father had given me after he had been away on business and smiled fondly at it. It was one of my most prized possessions.

"Yeah, just Jin and Lix. Don't let them bother you though Min." I said with a small smile. He sighed and ran his hands through his hair. He folded his arms and I could feel the anger exuding from him, filling the room with a dark energy. I shuddered slightly. This side of Leeknow scared the shit out of me.

"They're just being assholes. When they get together. I'm gonna give them hell." He said with a pout on his handsome face. I stared at him blankly. Was he for real?

"When?" I repeated back to him. He smirked and nodded knowingly at me. His previous anger fading away from his gorgeous face. His deep brown eyes stared into mine and I could almost see the cogs turning behind them.

"Come on Ji, they're obviously gonna be a thing. Haven't you seen the way they are with each other?" He asked as he closed and locked the door.

"Yeah, they're dicks to each other." I stated factually. "I mean Jin tripped Lix up the stairs earlier, and Lix literally just dumped a bottle of shampoo on Jin's head." I murmured. He chuckled and slowly walked over to me. He placed his hand on my cheek and leaned down so his eyes were level with mine. God I wanted to finish what we had started earlier. He had a sexy smoulder about him at all times these days, and I couldn't get enough of him.

"Exactly. I know Jin has feelings for him anyway." He winked and I was taken aback slightly. Since when had this happened?

"H-How?" I asked. "When?"

"That night they slept in the same bed. When Jin and I were making breakfast, he got all flustered when I asked him. I know my brother." I bit my lip and saw his eyes dart downwards. I was struggling to focus on what he was saying as he stared at me hungrily.

"What about Lix though? He doesn't feel the same I don't think." Leeknow nodded and shrugged.

"He will. I know Jin. He won't give him a choice." I placed my hand over the top of his and leaned my cheek into his soft skin. There was banging on the door and I could hear Lix and Jin making moaning noises and asking if we were decent. They laughed like school children.

"ONE. TWO. THREE." Leeknow quickly whipped around and headed for the door. I heard their footsteps disappear and a door slammed just down the hall. I sighed and rubbed my face. They were never going to let this go.

I hoped Lix would make time for me. I had a lot to say to him. I also hoped Mr Lee would be away for months. He said this was a long business trip and I hoped it was forever. I was sick of finding Leeknow broken on the floor at three in the morning in a pool of his own blood. I was sick of seeing him forcing a smile for me whenever I cried. I wished I was stronger and could do something.

After having such a kind loving Dad, I wondered how anyone could be so cruel to their own flesh and blood.

We all sat down at the dinner table and I kept my eyes on my food. I wasn't feeling good today and I knew what was coming. I placed my cutlery down and pushed my seat out. Mom had cooked a lovely meal for us all and I felt guilty that I couldn't stomach it.

"Can I be excused please Mom?" I asked quickly. She gave me a worried look and frowned.

"You ok baby?" She asked. I forced a smile and quickly headed for the door. I needed to be alone.

I flopped down onto my bed and placed my arm over my head. I needed to slow my heart rate. A gentle knock came at the door and I lifted my arm to see Lix slowly entering.

"You ok hyung?" He asked quietly. I shook my head and squeezed my eyes shut. I felt the bed sink next to me and his warm hand took my wrist. It was more gentle than he had been in a long time. He lifted me up and pulled me into his lap like I weighed nothing to him. I sunk into his body and let out a loud shaky sigh.

"Panic attack?" He asked quietly. I nodded and sniffed slightly. I stared down at my healing hands and wanted nothing more than to chew them. Felix placed one of his hands over mine and pulled me gently into his chest. He always knew what I was thinking.

"Sorry Lix." I whispered. "I wanted to be really happy today. I missed you, and it's so good seeing you smile again. But I can't be. Things have been awful." I closed my eyes as my brother did his best to comfort me.

"What happened Ji? Talk to me." He murmured. I took a deep breath and prepared myself. I began spilling my guts about Mr Lee and everything he had done to Leeknow. Every brutal punch, every black eye. Every tear I had witnessed him shed. It all came out and Lix looked horrified.

"Hyunjin said something weird at the hospital. He thought I was asleep but I just had my eyes closed. He thanked me for making him stay and not letting him go home." I nodded solemnly.

"He was a mess Lix. It took weeks for his face to heal and the bruising was everywhere. He couldn't even go to school. He only stopped because I made him." I explained sadly.

"We should tell Mom." He said quietly. "Surely she can't want to be with someone like that?" He was thinking out loud. But I knew it wasn't that simple. We couldn't just abandon them here. There was no telling what he would do.

"No Lix, it's worse. I heard him discussing profits with Min. I-I." My heart lept into my throat and I was struggling to get the words out. I breathed and tried to calm myself enough to force myself to speak. "He's making him sell drugs." I choked out. I felt Lix stiffen immediately, and he stared down at me intensely with pursed lips and a frown.

"Th-That's a huge accusation Ji." He murmured as he pulled my head back into his warm chest.

"I'm sure of it. I don't have anything concrete and Min won't tell me. But I'm sure of it Lix." My throat began feeling tight and I reached up to my brothers face. I grabbed it and forced him to look at me.

"J-Jisung." He said with wide eyes as I stared him down. I was desperate for him to believe me.

"W-We have to save them Lix!" I stammered. The room started going dark and I knew I was about to pass out. My throat was so tight it felt like it would never open back up.

But I couldn't let Leeknow and Hyunjin go through this. They were family now, and I loved them both dearly.

I was willing to risk everything to make sure they got out of this because I knew.

They deserved more.
