Jewel's POV
Staring out of the train, the lights from Erudite radiated from miles away. I knew I must be close now. Maybe only 15 more minutes. I'm not sure exactly what I plan on doing once I get to Erudite. Actually, I'm beginning to feel foolish that I even got on the train to come here.
Confronting Eric is one thing. Running into Erudite like a crazed 7th grader with a crush is a whole other thing.
I grip the side of the train car door as I lean out to look at the scenery in front of me. It's peaceful at this time of night. Much different from Dauntless.
The train begins to slow and I prepare myself to jump. I count silently in my head "1...2...3." My feet make contact with the hard ground that has a thin layer of soft green grass on top. My shins vibrate from the impact. I haven't done that in a long time. Wow. I really don't get out that much.
The main Erudite building is huge. Looking up, it has to be about 70 stories high. The humidity I feel in the air tells me that it's going to start raining soon.
On approaching the entrance, two men in blue suits greet me. "Evening." The man with white blonde hair says. He seems very professional. As all Erudite are. I smile up at him. "Hi."
"Are you here to join, Eric?" He says, putting his hands behind his back. It's good to know that they know Eric is here. If I say yes, though and they take me to him, he will be beyond ticked.
"Actually, I'm here on other business but I will be leaving with Eric." I try to sound professional as well. Seriously, when is the last time I lied??
The men both look skeptical. Shit. I must not have sounded as convincing.
"But if you know where Eric is, I could join him now." I continue.
They look at one another for a moment, deliberating whether or not to let me go any further.
"Eric is with Ms. Matthews. In her office. We're advised not to let anyone else go up there." This time the man with piercing green eyes and jet black hair speaks. He reminds me of Dauntless. I wonder if he was a transfer.
My feet begin to shuffle nervously. Just as I'm about to make up another excuse for them to let me in, a loud voice calls out.
"Amity! What are you doing here?!" His voice is twisted in anger. Shit. Shit. Shit.
I stare in horror over both the Erudite men's shoulders. Eric's steps are aggressive. His jaw and fists are both clenched. The man with the green eyes turns slightly and gives Eric a bored expression before saying, "Is this one yours?"
Eric's eyes bore into me. "Yes." He spits through his teeth. He shoves past the two men and grabs my elbow, pulling me down the walk way back to the train. I cringe under his grip, realizing that my whole body is shaking from shear terror.
His teeth are next to my ear in seconds. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He growls.
My breathing has picked up rapidly. Words can no longer form in my mouth. I was such an idiot to come down here like this.
He rattles my arm, drawing my attention back to him. I glance up at him and quickly look away.
"What are you doing here?!" He yells at me again.
I try my best to pull away from him as we near the train tracks but that only makes him pull me tighter to his side.
"How did you know where I was?" He seethes.
My fingers lock in front of me. With my head down, I manange a mumble. "Four told me where you were."
The train rumbles toward us in the distance. Eric is silent for a moment. I can feel the rise and fall of his chest on my back as he tries to calm himself.
As the train gets closer, we both begin walking, getting ready to jump on. Our pace is the same. If he speeds up, so do I. As it comes past us, a thought crosses my mind. What if I didn't get on? No. Eric would find me eventually.
As if sensing my hesitation, Eric's left hand comes around behind my back and digs into my hip bone, causing me to jerk forward. I jump into the first train car door that is avaliable. As soon as we are both in, he slams me into the wall. His body becomes flush with mine. I never noticed how much bigger he is from me until now.
His forearms rest on either side of my head as he glares down at me with a hint of amusement in his eyes. "You and Four seem awefully close these days."
He doesn't seem as angry anymore. But I should still be careful of what I say. Anything could triggor a bad reaction with him if I'm not careful.
"Four has insight." Is all I say. This seems to confuse him because his eyebrows pull together.
"Insight into what?"
"Things that others don't know a lot about." I say more firmly now.
"Such as?"
"Such as the fact that you got an Erudite girl pregnant. Apparently you go there every Wednesday? Ryan told me it was just a scare. Maybe you lied to him." I don't know where I got the nerve to say all of that. It kind of just spilled out.
His right hand comes down off the wall and sets at the base of my throat. His eyes are dark with danger. This is the bad reaction I should have thought about. As his fingers dig into my skin, my life flashes before my eyes. He could get away with killing me. He's a leader after all.
"If you're implying that I have a kid that no one knows about. You're wrong. Maybe you should tell Four to get his facts straight." To be honest, he sounds annoyed. Like this rumor of him having a child is something that keeps getting brought back up.
He steps away from me and walks to the other side of the train car. The silence between us is unbearable as we ride back to Dauntless.
So what does everyone think so far?? Good? Bad? Yeah, Eric doesn't have a kid. He sure isn't ready to be a father.....yet. If anyone is interested, I started on a new story called Trouble. I'll be updating on it shortly after this one. It is also an Eric fanfic except Eric is in highschool! It's just a little something different from the usual Divegent stuff. If you're interested go check it out! As always, thank you for reading! Comment and Vote!
