Eric's POV
I left Jewel early in the morning, not wanting to wake her. Placing a soft kiss to her forehead and tucking the sheets around her body to keep her warm, I left without making any noise.
Running the details of last night through my mind, it's hard to tell where my head is at. A feeling of possessiveness washes over me every time I think of Jewel. I don't want anyone else to have her. I don't want anyone else thinking about her. I may never have been one for just a long term relationship but when it comes to her, everything changes.
She. Is. Mine.
When I enter my apartment, I see that Natalie and her child have left. Finally.
The whole place has been left a mess, though. This infuriates me. Going around the room, I pick up discarded items such as food and towels. Why did I ever think bringing her here was a good idea?
Since when have I ever been so desperate to get laid? Especially when I have this beautiful Amity transfer that is brand new and all mine.
Looking back on things, I should have gotten to know Jewel a lot sooner. I waited a whole year after her initiation to even approach her and ever since, I crave her night and day. It does hurt to know that I've hurt her several times since we've started our "relationship" but it's hard to get rid of bad habits once you're so used to them.
After taking a long shower, I make my way to my office. I heard word that Ryan has returned. The thought of him repulses me. I never liked him. He was Dauntless born and has always had a superiority complex. It never really bothered me that he was around when Natalie and I were screwing around a while back but now that Jewel is in the picture, I don't him near her, ever.
I leave my door open, in hopes that Jewel might stop by at some point today. A strange euphoric feeling passes through me every time I think of her coming to see me. Happiness?
Half an hour passes and no sign of the beautiful brunette. I become reckless with the need to see her again. What is happening to me?
My palm hits the top of the desk repeatedly while I search for some sort of distraction. A loud slam brings me to reality once more and I watch as Natalie huffs past my office in the direction of the exit. Surprisingly, she doesn't stop by here. Good.
I stand and walk out into the hallway in the direction that she came. Ryan's office is at the very end of the hall and the only place Natalie could have been coming from. I lean my ear against the door and listen to his voice call out a name. The words "Baby Jewls" passes through his lips and I immediately ball up my fists in anger.
It's hard to hear what she says back to him and I walk away, giving up on trying to listen in. Just as my back turns, I hear Jewel scream out. My senses become alert and I turn back to the door.
The doorknob turns easily under my fingers and when the door opens, the scene in front of me sends me into an animalistic rage.
Jewel's POV
Ryan doesn't loosen his grip on me even after Eric has entered the room. He keeps watching me with an unnerving darkness in his eyes. But soon Eric is close enough to us and he grabs the Ryan's arm, the one that is suspending me off the ground. I crumble to the floor as soon as I'm out of his grasp and rub my throat continuously where his fingers dug into my skin. I'm finding it hard to breath but this discomfort is drowned out by the sounds of Eric's fists relentlessly punching Ryan in the face.
Nothing in me wants him to stop his assault. Actually, a small part of me is enjoying watching that asshole get the shit beat out of him. But when Ryan's body falls the ground and Eric continues to beat him, it becomes apparent to me that he isn't going to stop.
I stand quickly and rush over. I can barely see Ryan under Eric's huge body.
"Eric! Stop! You're going to kill him!" Ryan deserves a good beating, not death. But my words do nothing. Eric continues. Ryan coughs a gurgling noise. Blood passes over his lips and his face is barely recognizable. I lean down and try to pull Eric off of him but when I do Eric's elbow clips me on the side of my cheek, sending me falling back.
It's easy to tell that he didn't even notice hitting me, other wise he would have stopped by now.
"You will never touch her again!" Eric screams between blows. His anger is scary. I've seen him made but not like this. This is something else. Something that frightens me to my very core.
Suddenly, he brings Ryan up so that he is propped up on his knees. Eric latches his elbow around his neck and stands behind him. My eyes must be deceiving me. My breathing stops completely.
He tightens his arm around Ryan's throat and places his free hand on the side of his cheek.
"Eric! No!" I can't tell if I screamed or whispered. His blue eyes meet mine for a brief second before a loud cracking sound fills the room.
Eric releases and Ryan's body falls. Everything is in slow motion. When Eric comes to help me up, I fall back down from the numbness. He resorts to taking me in his arms. His left arms coils around my waist as he has me bridal style. How he has the strength to only hold me with one arm while his right hand comes up to caress my cheek where he hit me, is beyond me.
His touch is warm and I let my eyes drift closed.
"You killed him." I whisper. He brings his other hand under my body, leaving my cheek burning. I shiver as he tightens his hold on me. I can tell that we're walking by the continuous bouncing but to where, I'm unsure.
"Nobody hurts you. Nobody. Ever." His voice growls even now with the same anger he once had. My eyes flutter open one last time to look at him. His jaw is clenched and I can feel his chest heaving. With the little strength I have left, the last thing I remember is bringing my finger tips up to his lips and feeling him kiss them softly.
I find it very hard to write in Eric's POV so I'm sorry that the first part of this chapter was crappy. I hope you all are still liking it. Tell me what you think. Love all my wonderful readers. And thank you @idauntlesswarrior for the ideas!! You were a great help! Comment and vote loves!
