Jewel's POV
Blood. Everywhere. My mother's face is unrecognizable. I run towards her limp body, my feet being washed over with a pool of blood that has collected at her side. "Mom!!! Please!" I scream at her but she doesn't move. Doesn't make a sound. Her body lays out in the middle of Amity fields along with hundreds of other dead bodies. There is a chilling silence that resides in the air and when I look up, I see dark storm clouds approaching. What happened here?
A hand roughly shakes my body and brings me out of my dream state. My eyes slowly readjust to the twilight lite room. Dark blue eyes loom over me. Eric. His calloused hand rubs the side of my cheek and my breathing comes to a rapid slow pace.
"Were you dreaming?" He sounds almost worried. I run my palms down my face, hoping to wake myself from the awful scene I just saw.
"Yeah." I mumble out. He searches my face for a long time without saying anything. He seems genuinely concerned which shocks me but at the same time is a comforting thought. I haven't nightmares in such a long time. What brought on this one?
Eric shifts his body so that my head is cradled against his chest and I'm so grateful in this moment that he is here with me. His large right hand strokes my back soothingly.
"What was the dream about?" I smile to myself at his husky voice. It's incredibly sexy.
"My mom and Amity." He slightly pauses stroking at the mention of my mother but continues on seconds later.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Do I? I don't know. The urge to go see my mom over takes me and my heart starts to beat fast in my chest. I nuzzle my nose into his bare chest and he pulls me tighter to his side.
"I don't want to think about it right now." If I go to Amity, Eric doesn't need to know about it. He would never allow me to leave, I know it. One, because it's against faction rules. Two, he's a Dauntless leader and honestly not the biggest fan of Amity to begin with. Three , if I did tell him and he let me go , he would probably do something crazy like follow me there and I don't need that. Too much of my past is hidden in those fields.
I don't remember falling asleep but when I do, I can still feel the up and down strokes of his hand in my unconscious.

Getting away from Eric in the morning was the easy part. He left quietly, off to do leadership things, leaving a small kiss to the top of my forehead. I shouldn't allow him to do those things, not after everything that's happened. He said we needed to stay away from one another and look where that's at now.
But that's not my concern right now. Finding the control room is the task at hand and making sure I don't run across Eric on my way there.
I can hear the beeps of the monitors before I even make it into the room. It's huge. Screens surround every single wall. I see all of Dauntless and the fences.
Short brown hair peeks out from over a computer screen in the back and I scury over. I take the empty seat next to Four. He doesn't even glance up at me, just continues to type as if I didn't just appear.
