Jewel's POV

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. Eric's large hand slams down on top of my drumming fingers and I gasp, coming out of my day dream. I look at him bewildered. He removes his hand and props his elbows up on top of his desk.

"Something bothering you?" I hadn't even realized that I had zoned out. One moment I was filing papers, the next I'm off thinking about my escape plan for tonight.

I take in a deep breath and scratch the back of my neck nervously. "No, not at all."

His eyebrows raise in question but he turns back to the screen in front of him. My mind races for a change in subject so that the tension that just suddenly entered can leave. But all the things I think of are controversial topics.

"You never told me who that girl was." My tone is a bit more harsh than intended. Eric's lips press into a tight line until he finally makes eye contact with me. I hold his gaze almost challengingly.

"She's someone I know."

I let out a loud sarcastic laugh as I lean back in the chair in front of his desk. "Obviously." I scoff at him. He seems unfazed by my attitude.

"It's none of your concern." This time he sounds a bit angry.

"But you have the say on who I can kiss?" I kind of like the thought of challenging him. I want so badly to get under his skin and see what really makes him tick. I also wonder if our banter would lead to him attacking me with relentless angry kisses. That would be nice.

He shoves the chair back that he's sitting in and comes around the desk. I stare up at him with an evil smirk, the same one he always likes to flash.

He crosses his arms across his chest and his mouth parts slightly as his eyes scan me from top to bottom. "Are you baiting me?" How did he catch on that quickly?!

I roll my eyes and stand in front of him. I run a finger along one of his forearms, tracing the black gridded ink. He watches me closely, I can feel it. Licking my lips, I look up at him, seductively.

"I think maybe I'm gonna go find Jack and have lunch with him." I like playing this game with him. I know exactly how to press his buttons. All he can see is red. It's obvious by his clenched jaw and tormented eyes.

Eric digs his fingers into my hips and pulls me as close as possible to his body. My palms rest on his chest. "You're not going to see him." He commands down to me.

I pooch out my bottom lip. "But he's my friend. And I like him. He's nice." I direct that last bit right to him and he picks up on it. He leans down, his lips skimming over the tip of my nose, down to the sides of my mouth, so teasingly. I can't help but let my eyes drift shut.

"You may like nice but that will never be what you want." His hands slide down and grip my ass tightly, which makes me squeal. "Eric!"

He bites my earlobe softly and a moan passes through my lips. I clutch to the front of his shirt, begging him to continue. His mouth travels down my neck until he's found the exact spot that he wants. His tongue licks gently over the most sensitive area and all I want is for him to keep going.

He roughly pushes me away from his body. I stumble back into the door and look up at him in utter confusion. The serious leader face is back and he takes a seat behind his desk once again.

"You're free to go, Amity. But don't think to go finding any friends." He isn't even looking at me. I glare at him. How dare he!

To my despair, I never found Jake like I wanted to. Which only made me wonder if Eric had done something to him. It was beginning to become dark outside and that would mean the time for me to leave was approaching.

A low knock comes to the door and I almost run to open it. Four stares down at me with a sarcastic expression.

"You ready?" He says.

I nod and lock the door behind me. "You're in luck. I heard there's a leaders meeting tonight, which means Eric will be occupied for a couple of hours." His voice is hushed as we make our way to the exit.

"What's your plan? On distracting the guards, I mean?" I'm a bit jumpy already and Four notices.

"Calm down. You'll make a mistake if you're too excited." He's right. I wish I had something to calm my nerves. A shot of liquor would be nice right now.

The cold wind hits us as we step out onto the gravel. Not a soul is out here.

"This may be easier than I thought." He says, amused.

"Who's in the control room right now?" I ask as he jogs a bit in front of me to check around the building.

"Zeke." Oh, thank goodness.

"I'm guessing he knows what we're up to?" Four turns back to me and nods.

"This requires more than just me." True.

He stands in front of me now, looking down with such intensity. "Now, it looks like nobody is manning the trains entrance but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful. I'll go ahead of you and when I give the signal you run to the train. And I mean run. Don't take your time." He begins walking and I follow at a steady pace.

He checks around the building once more before swiftly walking. I stand, waiting for him to ensure that it's okay for me to go. He stops suddenly and puts his hands behind his back. I watch closely as one of his index fingers pulls back. I run. As fast as possible.

I skim my palm across Four's back, the only way I know how to say thank you now. The platform is close and when I look back Four is far away.

But not far enough away that I can't hear someone call his name. "Four! What are you doing?!" That voice. The one that wasn't supposed to be out here now. I run faster and see the train close off in the distance.

A say a deep prayer as I hop on that Four finds away to detour Eric long enough. If he doesn't, Amity is going to be in for a very rude awakening.

Is she going to get caught? Is Four going to beat Eric up? Thoughts?? Comment and Vote!
