Jewel's POV
Thunder rumbles off in the distance. A flash of lightning passes through the sky, send a white glow through the air. Cold winds start to pick up and my body shivers. The grass underneath me is damp from a previous rain. The trees that once covered the fields are now gone and have been replaced by nothing but eeriness. I'm alone out here. That much is clear.
This could be a dream but then again, it feels so real. The sounds. The scenery. The objects. Every thing seems so....real.
A slow drizzle begins and I stand to my feet, looking for shelter. There isn't any. Miles and miles of open land surround me, giving no hope of an escape from the treacherous weather that seems to be approaching.
Wrapping my arms around myself, I begin walking. To where, I don't know. The drizzle turns into a slow pour then rain drops suddenly turn into hale. The small pebbles hit my skin, sending sharp stings through out my body. I start running.
My vision is becoming blurred and I can no longer see but a few inches in front of me. Lightning flashes all around me and loud thunder booms. I'm afraid.
A loud voice calls to me, somewhere off in the shadows. I stop running and look in the direction of the sound. A large tree seems to have formed out of no where and underneath the branches stands a person. They call to me again and this time I recognize the voice. Eric.
"Jewel!" He sounds panicked but relieved. Immediately, I start running to him. He leaves his spot under the tree and starts running to me also. It seems as though we can't get to one another fast enough.
"Eric!" I yell back to him. He picks up his pace and before I know it, I'm in his arms. He picks me up, pulling me into his chest. I wrap my arms tightly around his neck and sink into the hug. One of his hands rubs down my back, trying to calm me. His lips come near my ear. "I thought I lost you."
I hug him tighter which makes him grip me harder. "Where were you?" I ask him as the hale slowly fades away. Thunder still beats but it no longer is as menacing.
Eric places me back down on my feet and kisses me tenderly. I stretch up to meet his lips and smile when his hands come up under my shirt slightly around my hips.
He pulls back momentarily to look at me. "Let's get you out of this rain." He takes my hand, pulling back towards the tree. Our fingers interlock as we walk.
Safely under the large branches he resumes his former position and kisses me again, this time more roughly. At first, I enjoy it. His mouth seems desperate to taste mine so I allow myself to sink into it. I ball my fingers around the front of his shirt as he grips the back of my hips tighter, letting his finger nails dig in.
A low laughter comes from behind the trunk of the tree and I pull away from Eric, suddenly scared. I look to see Natalie. She smiles an evil grin in our direction and I look back up at Eric to see him with the same smile.
"What is she doing here, Eric?" Natalie asks. This has happened before.
His blue eyes gloss over with black. Eric shoves me, roughly causing me to fall.
He walks over to Natalie and puts an arm around her waist. She licks her lips teasingly. He clutches her face in between his hands and begins kissing her in such a way that I have to look away.
"Eric! Why are you doing this?!" I scream as hot tears fall down my cheeks. He doesn't answer me but continues to kiss her.
"Eric!"
"Eric!!"
He brings his gaze to me now, snarling as he walks towards me. A black stick of some sort has formed in his hand. He brings it above his head as he glares at me, relentlessly.
"Did you actually think I would choose you? An Amity?" His sarcasm is penetrating.
Before he hits me, I swear I could almost here him say, "I told you to stay away, Jewel."
Jewel. Jewel. Jewel.
"Jewel!" A hand jostles my shoulder and I sit up immediately to met with brown eyes staring back at me.
Four brings my shoulders up, placing me in a sitting position. My hands rub down my face. It was only a dream. Or a nightmare?
"Do you make a habit out of sleeping in the control room?"
My eyes dart around, to only see that I'm surrounded by computer monitors and loud beeping. Four shifts in the seat next to me and crosses his arms over his chest.
"I don't know how I got here." Is all I can say.
"Good thing I'm the only one working tonight, otherwise you would be in a lot of trouble."
I stand and begin searching for a clock. "What time is it?" I ask, before stepping out the door. Four cocks an eyebrow at me and chuckles, lightly.
"It's 4AM, Jewel. 4AM."
I dart out the door.
I quickly make my way back to my apartment that I somehow didn't make it to after leaving Eric. I search my pocket for my keys but they're gone.
Where did I put them?
Sighing, I start walking to Jake's. He'll let me crash at his place until I can find my keys.
Just as I turn the corner, a large body stops me. The smell of a deep pine aftershave and sweat fill my nostrils, sending my mind on a rampage of memories as to where I first smelled it.
When I tilt my head up, the blue eyes from the dream meet mine. My breath catches in my throat and I can no longer breath. The same fear that I had now over takes me.
Eric looks down at me with eyes of a predator.
He brings his hand up close to my face and jiggles something in between his fingers. Keys.
"Drop something?"
But before I can answer, blackness takes over.
