Shuyang ran the brush through his lengthy hair once more, throwing the top half into a ponytail. The man hassled into his t-shirt and grabbed his keys before locking his apartment door, footing downs the stairs and being immediately frightened by a waiting Yu ZeYu."Holy shit!" He gasped as he slowed his speed and caught his breath, now face-to-face with his older friend.
"Sorry to scare you." ZeYu mouthed plainly, hands dug deeply into his jean pockets. He looked undone and extremely tired. "What're your doing here?" Shuyang questioned, imitating the older and shoving his hands into his back pockets, feeling at the small note he had found the morning prior."The note." ZeYu blunted, reaching his hand out expectantly.
Shuyang squeezed the piece of paper tighter.
"I don't know what you mea-""Quit your shit, the grounds told me." ZeYu grumbled, gripping the shorter's wrist and ripping it out from behind his back, crumpled paper in hand. Shuyang growled and shook his head. How could he forget about the grounds? They knew everything didn't they?
"What does it even mean? Not his obituary? It's literally his obituary." ZeYu fought no one in particular, confusion clothing both of the men. "I don't know! I just found it." Shuyang defended, taking the paper back and protecting it. It seemed to be the last remaining piece of GouGou he had, as mysterious as it was.
"Ask your grounds or whatever, just leave me alone." Shuyang grouched, pushing past his old friend. "What's your damage Yang?" ZeYu scoffed. The younger stopped in his tracks, rolling his eyes. He didn't feel like talking to anyone right now; he just wanted to figure out what that note fucking meant? Was it a clue as to where Rui had gone before they found him dead just outside town? Was is possible he was alive?
Shuyang hadn't seen him since the night before his death. What if something had happened? What if nothing happened? What if he was okay?
"I'm just... tired." Shuyang turned towards the older with a fake smile. "Sorry."
"We all are Yang. Don't go blowing up." ZeYu warned, stepping closer to Shuyang. "Where are you off to?" He asked, quietly. Shuyang sighed internally. "The library." He confessed, looking downwards, hoping something might jump out at him and give him the answers he was looking for.
Xinlong walked aimlessly after Hanyu towards the center of town, sweating in the intense heat. Why did these small town summers have to be so hellish? Hanyu hadn't said a word the entire time, just leading the boy further and further into the population of their old home town.
"Where are we even going?" Xinlong called out, but got no answer. He could've easily denied Hanyu this morning but something told him to follow. Soon, the older boy stopped, the two now standing in front of the old Library. The aged wooden doors were propped open so a breeze could blow through if it so pleased.
Hanyu tuned to look at the boy, a smile on his face. "Big deal, it's the library." Xinlong huffed and puffed, bent over to catch his breath. Xinlong had always been the athletic type, but when it came to the heat, he cried sissy pretty quickly.
"Long! What're you doing here?" Xinlong perked up as he heard Zeyu's voice resonate throughout the center. He looked up to see both Zeyu and Shuyang walking his way."Hey! Yeah me and Hanyu came out here... for some reason." He shrugged, grabbing at his collar and fluttering his shirt a few times for air flow.
"Oh where is he?" Shuyang asked, looking around for their leader.
"He right here." Xinlong huffed, thrusting a thumb towards the man next to him.
"He's literally not." ZeYu responded.
"You guys are crazy he's-" Xinlong took a long look at the man beside him, subtle differences popping out at him now. The cheeks weren't quite as full and the eyes weren't the right shade of brown. He was even shorter.
