Dela held the bottom of her abdomen as Lona linked arms with her, both women strolling peacefully towards the old country home, a plate of some type of wonderful dessert Dela had whipped up held firmly in the smaller's hand.

It wasn't a long walk to the Yi's small farm, maybe just a mile or two. Dela could've walked it easily when she wasn't so far along, her poor little body feeling the effects of the baby like she never had before. To be fair, she had never gotten his far into a pregnancy.

"Do you know if either of you were particularly big babies?" Lona questioned as fear coursed through her. She had been much thinner in frame than Dela was and seeing how much pain she was in was frightening.

"I know I was, so was he so I'm fucked no matter which side you look at." Dela laughed, not usually a potty-mouth.
Lona just nodded.

With a heavy sigh, the shorter woman sighed, hand still firm on her bump. She recalled her first ever trimester back in her freshman year.

Everything had been terrible then. She was confused and the utmost conflicted. She was now convinced that stress was what caused her to miscarry that time, though deep down she was glad she hadn't had that baby, and sweet as it may have been. She couldn't have lived with a baby that early on in her life. Hanyu would've been forced to marry her by her parents and she doubted their relationship would have thrived like it had.

Dela was never iffy about marrying that boy, having loved him since the 2nd grade. When he finally told her that he liked her in 6th, she was over the moon and at no point was she ready to come back down. In 8th, when nature took its course, she didn't regret  letting the boy be her first. She did, however, regret not waiting until they had been married, wishing to have saved herself from all of the lonely, heartbreaking moments she endured during her failed pregnancies.

Lona walked on quietly, mind wandering to her own union with her husband. They had known they would marry each other since they were 9, yet they didn't meet each other face-to-face until 20. Lona had been prepped and primed for her wedding since she was a young girl, being brought up in both her's and Zihao's mother language, just so she could communicate with her future beau.

It had been a heartbreaking life for her as well. She had always been aware of her lack of freedom for her future. She didn't get to choose what she wanted, or even who she wanted. She was given a time and place and was expected to accept it with no argument. Lona could spit thinking about how much responsibility had been placed on her since the time of her birth. She was to keep relations with her husband so her family's business wouldn't suffer and neither would his. She was supposed to birth an heir and be as jolly as humanly possible for the public, though they knew little of her struggle and suffering. She could be played off as a brat and an unfaithful bitch, but only she knew of how horrible it was to be thousands of miles from her homeland, shoved into some cold mansion with a man she didn't love and told to mate like dogs so she could then produce a son. It was like she wasn't even human.

Lona was lucky to marry one of the few men who refused to force himself on her.

She had never much considered Zihao's prospective on their marriage. But, having been growing close this past week, she realized how much the man had suffered in silence just to please his family as well. He had always liked her, but never received her approval in return, so he smothered his feelings with alcohol and kept his mouth shut.

"How much longer?" Lona huffed as her feet began to ache from the long walk. "Not much at all." Dela assured, eyes turning to the sky and breathing in the beauty of the day. "Why didn't Kara come with us?" Lona asked again, pondering the youngest of the wives they had over in that house.

"Xinlong was going to take her to his parents house. Apparently they weren't too keen on the idea of him marrying her, so he wants to show her off a bit." Dela giggled. She had always found those two to be absolutely adorable together. Since the day they met in their senior year they had been sweet on one another.

"His mother said that boys as handsome as he was didn't marry fat girls-"

"Kara's not a fat girl. She's curvy, and dare I say she's one of the sexiest woman I've ever met." Lona interrupted. Dela just nodded as a smile adorned on her face. "You can imagine how sick Xinlong was to hear that from his own mother. So a few months after graduation he picked her up for a date and they never came back. I remember the whole county buzzing about those two for  almost a year. It was so romantic. Eloping and moving up to the city." Dela hummed. She had always wanted to go to the city, but Hanyu had work here and she would stay wherever he was.

"I have to admit I had quite the crush on Xinlong when I got here," Lona confessed, tucking a strand of blonde hair he hind her ear.
Dela could've choked right then, but held herself back. It was some effect that man had on the people around him, or maybe he was just an attractive man. "But he's happily married... and all the more loyal, huh?"

"He Xinlong is the most loyal man you'll ever meet Lona. He's the human embodiment of a Labrador puppy." Dela explained. She felt a sense of urgency to inform Lona of the man's rightness so she wouldn't suffer from the consequences of trying to come between a man and his wife.

"Now if you want a dishonest, immoral man you go sleep with Ren Shuyang." Dela spat. She shivered at the thought of him.

Dela didn't always have such an aversion to the young man, in fact she used to think he was quite cute and boyishly charming. But, her views changed after hearing the same story over and over again from almost every girl she went to high school with. Shuyang was a playboy and had little regard for the feelings of those girls he conned into sleeping with him.

"Just like his father." She voiced.

"When I met him he seemed alright." Lona defended. He hadn't tried to make a move on her, so she assumed he was an okay guy in that respect. But, her husband had been there the whole time. Her mind began to wander as she thought of what might have happened if Zihao hadn't been within a 10 foot radius at all times. Would that little cutie have tried to pick her up? Would she have let him?

Yes.

She would have relished in his adorable little smile and that shaggy sort of style he sported.

Lona could admit she wasn't completely reformed, but she was doing her best.

"Well you'll do yourself a favor just sticking to one man and loving him. Less heartbreak and a lot less to explain." Dela sighed. She didn't understand how some people could betray their partner like that. She would never dream of doing Hanyu so dirty. Then again, Hanyu was a good husband. Nor was Dela known to another man. She had been completely Hanyu's since she was 14 years old.

Lona stopped in her tracks as her eyes raked over a small farm house. The front window was shattered and a strange feeling washed over her. "Is that it?"

Dela looked back to her level, experiencing the same sight. She nods cautiously but continued further.

"Wait-" Lona held tight to the other expecting woman's arm. "I don't think we should go."

"Why not?" Dela questioned, getting a bit impatient with the other. "I just don't think we should."

"Oh come now, you're being silly-" Dela started but soon stood frozen in place. The plate dropped from her hand and her blood ran cold. "Dela? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Lona expressed.

"I-I"

It only took a second for Lona to focus in on what Dela was staring at, a young man, maybe the age of that Shuyang guy, sat on the grassy area beside the house, a battered appearance to him. He was breathing heavily with a hand clutched to his lower stomach.

"Gou!" Dela shouted as a sudden wave of worry surged her system.

The tattered man's head slowly turned upward, gave now in sight of the two women.

"Dela~" He heaved.
