Chapter 8

Finally I had arrived to the address John B had sent me. There was a small house with an old looking porch and the paint had been peeling. In the front was a big tree with long branches and if you looked out toured the marsh there was a boat that read "HMS Pogue."

I texted John B then got out of the car. When I reached the door I opened the screen door and nocked on the real one. I waited a couple of minutes then heard the door knob turn and before I knew it there was John B.

"Hey come in." He gestured
"Thanks again for letting me hang here. I hope it's not to much of a hassle." I walked in.
"Oh no of course not it will be fun." He nudged me.
"So where's your dad? I missed Big John" I laughed looking around the corner. His smile instantly changed into a sad expression. He looked down,
"Um Lily my, um, my dad disappeared nine months ago." He looked back at me with tears in his eyes and his voice shaky.
"Oh my god John B." I speed walked to him and hugged him tightly. He hugged me back with the same strength and cried a bit in my shoulder.

"It's going to be ok and I'm sure he will show up when you least expect it alright." I comforted him not letting go of the hug.
We stood there for a couple of minutes and then finally I slowly loosened the hug and he had stopped crying.

"Thanks, I needed that." He sniffed
"No problem. And besides what are friends for." I laughed
"Hey listen I'm really sorry I couldn't be there for... well all most everything but I'm really sorry I couldn't be there for when your dad went missing" I looked at him for forgiveness.
"It's ok what matters is that you can be here now" he smiled.

He told me about most things that I missed, changed, or just was the same.
"Hey you want a drink?" He opened the fridge door and pulled out a can of beer.
"Sure" I took the cold beer from his hand.
"Wait you know what that is right?" He opens himself one.
"You know my parents wanted me to be happy after we left so they never really cared were I was or what I was doing... or should I say drinking." I smirked while opening mine and taking a sip.

After a bit he went over to the couch and transformed it into a bed.
"Thanks for letting me crash tonight" I sat in the bed.
"No problem" he was almost around the corner when he stopped.
"Oh tomorrow night there's a bonfire wanna join us?" He asked
"Definitely" I smiled

After he turned out the lights and I was fully under the blankets with my head laying on the pillow. I started to think, what would grams say?  I laid there with this problem in my head until I came up with a solution for it...
I won't tell her.

Grams would never let me go after what happened so I won't go back tomorrow. I can stay with my friends and maybe hang at Kie's after the party. Then go back the next day.
Oh damn I'm going to be in so much more trouble.
