Chapter 16

I woke this morning feeling totally out of it. I couldn't understand why Rafe wanted to go out with me. It's been ten years he should have moved on.
It was a dinner date after all so I just decided to hang around the house with grams until it was time to get ready.

Hours had past and it was now 5:34 so I decided to get ready. I went to my room to get some clothes and then went to take a shower.
After my shower I got dressed and then blow dried my hair. I looked in the mirror at my outfit choice, I was wearing a soft pink colored shirt with light blue ripped jeans and my black converses. I put my long brown hair up in my tan colored hair clip then put some mascara and lip gloss on. Lastly I put on a small neckless that had a small silver heart on it.

By the time I was done getting ready the time was around 5:50. I sat at the table waiting out the extra time I had when grams comes over and sits in the seat across from me. I look her in the eyes and she stares right back at me.

   "Why don't you want to go on this date Lily?" Grams crossed her arms on the table.
  "Who ever said that." I say sarcastically looking down on my phone constantly checking the time.
  "You didn't look to happy when Rafe was over yesterday or when he asked you to dinner."
  "Maybe it's because of the fact that it's Rafe Cameron or the fact that I don't particularly like going on dates with people I don't like." I said sternly looking back at her.
"Especially if their a Kook" I mumbled.

There was a sudden silence but before grams could respond the door bell rang. He was a bit early. I got up with out saying a word and opened the door. Rafe was wearing a white button up with tan pants.
  "Hi-" He began.
  "Let's just get this over with." I said walking past him to his car.

  We got in the car and started driving.
"So where may I ask are we going?" I asked
"Just the fancy restaurant over near the beach." He said facing at me smiling in hopes I would do the same. I showed a bit of excitement to him then faced the road but deep down I wasn't at all surprised, he was trying to impress me and he was a kook so the money his dad makes is the money for him to spend on bikes and dates with girls he's liked since the 4th grade.

When we arrived to the restaurant I opened the car door, as did Rafe, and we headed to the entrance of the big restaurant on the beach. As I enter I look around at my surroundings and see so many kooks in one place I felt like the black sheep tonight.

A waiter brings me and Rafe to our table and sits us down. "What would you two like to drink?" The waiter asks us.
"I'll have a water please." I say.
"I'll have a water too." He smiled.
"Ok and here are your menus." He says setting down two large menus on the table than walked away.
"So what do you wanna eat?" Rafe asked.
I scanned through my menu before answering,
"Ill get a salad since there's no burger and fries." I smiled at him then looked at my phone to check the time. I did that constantly as time passed. then finally the waiter showed up again.

"Have you made your decisions?" He asked us placing down our drinks.
We gave him our orders then he fled to the kitchen again. Rafe tried to make small talk with me but I didn't want him to think there was gonna be something going on between us so I kept my responses to one to three words.
But then he asked a question that needed a long response.

"Why did your parents move you away?" He said looking at his food that was being set down on the table.
"I-i um, they said they wanted a better life for me. Even tho my life was perfect the way it was." I said a bit tensely while picking up my fork.
"Yeah parents can be tuff like that even for no reason." He said.
"Exactly!" I didn't think that we could actually relate to something but now that I think about it Ward Cameron was a big asshole.

An hour passed and we had a couple of laughs. I could say that the night was going alright until I looked over to my right.
JJ, the number one person I didn't want seeing me, with let alone talking to a Kook, was here.
He was in a waiters uniform so I assumed that he was working.

"Shit" I mumbled and tried to look the other way. I'm guessing Rafe noticed and got a bit jealous bc he started point out that "Lily and I" want more water. That's when I looked at JJ.

He saw me with Rafe and he looked pissed. He left the room and headed for the bathroom.
"Why did you have to do that?" I asked.
"Do what? Ask for more water like a kind person?" He replied trying to play dumb.
"Yeah well if you took a sec to stop looking me up and down then maybe you would have seen that my cup is full." I stood up and walked out of the room.

JJ's POV:
I was so pissed! What was she doing here with the worst Kook in the outer banks. I walked into the bathroom and just sat there processing what I just witnessed. Just then who other then the Rafe Cameron.

"So how'd your little date go with a girl that's not even into you." I say standing up.
"It was going good until you showed up. because of you she got mad and left." The Kook said shoving me.
"Hey that's on you man! Alright not me!" I shoved him back.
Just before a fight was gonna break out the security of the restaurant came in and grabbed me.
"Fine alright Im leaving" I said and they let go of me. As I was walking out of the room Rafe had the nerve to say one more thing.
"Hey and why don't you tell Lily she's pretty hot for a Pogue." He chuckled.
Just then I turned around and punched him right in the nose. It broke and so I got fired.

When I walked out into the rain to get my bike I saw that Lily was still there in the rain.

Back to Lily's POV:
I stood there in the cold rain drenched with no ride home. I looked around and saw that JJ was coming out of the restaurant. I pretended not to notice him because I didn't know if he even wanted to look at me after what happened inside.
  Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around in hopes that it was JJ but it was quite the opposite. Rafe had come outside as well in hopes to apologize probably.

"Hey, let me drive you home so you don't just stand out here all night." He took me by the arm and started to lead me toward his car.

I pulled my arm away from him and stood there.
"No, I'm not going anywhere with you." I sternly said to him.
"Well if you don't you'll freeze out here!" He started to yell.
"I rather die then ever spend another minute with you!" I yelled back.
"Do you usually act like this?" He said.
"Do you usually have your dates grandparents tell them to go on a date with you?" I say rudely.
Rafe grabbed my arm again
"Let go your hurting me!" I said in pain. As he was about to make a threat-
"Hey man let go of her." JJ grabbed his arm and took my hand to bring me behind him.

"What we are just talking, go back to the cut." Rafe said insultingly.
"Well it sounded like you were harming her so I think you should run back to your mommy, Before I finish what I started inside." JJ threatened.

Rafe walked away and then JJ took me to his bike.
"JJ I-" I was about to apologize when he cut me off.
"Lily just don't alright." He said looking upset.
He sighed, "Just get on the damn bike." And handed me his helmet.

I did as I was told and we drove off to my house.
