Chapter 12

"Lily, Lily wake up" I opened my eyes to see Kie shaking me awake.
"You have to go out the window. John B and the others are here." She said getting up and looking out in the hall.
"Alright, alright" I said yawning.
"My parents aren't up yet you have time." She opened the window and waved ti the boys.

I stood up, hugged Kie, and then climbed out the window. I stepped onto the roof ledge and walked over to the left. I looked down and saw JJ there.

"I'm going to catch you." He said putting his arms out.
"Are you crazy?!" I said trying not to be loud.
"You wanna break a bone and then have to explain that to your grams?" He had a point.
I didn't want to have to lie about something like that ti grams. Not after what I said.

"Fine, but I'm not just going to jump" I said
"Ok then climb down the side and then let me catch you" He suggested.
I did as he said and climbed down the side but then was hesitant at the moment of him catching me.
"You guys need to hurry!" Kie popes her head out the window.

At that moment I let go of the side of the roof and fell into JJ's arms. I closed my eyes and felt hands hug my leg and back. When I opened them I saw JJ, he gave a face letting me know that I was safe.

We looked at each other and then,
"Um, a thanks for catching me." I said with my arms around him.
"No problem" he smiled and put me down.
I heard other voices in skies room and realized that it was her parents. I grabbed JJ's hand and pulled him with me as I started running. He realized too and started to run. When we reached the van the door slide open to reveal Pope.

"Get in hurry!" He gestured his hand. When we got in John B drove away immediately.
"Well that was fun" JJ said
"Yah if call jumping into someone's arms of the side of the roof gun, then yes very fun" I said sarcastically.
"Oh just someone's arms mhm?" He said defensively.

I nudged him with my arm and looked at Pope.
"So what's the plan for today?" I asked
"Well not much there's a storm coming." He sighed.
"Perfect for surfing" JJ whispered to me.
"What about Kie?" I asked looking around.
"If her parents let her go out before the storm the maybe later." John B answered.

We got back to John B's place, JJ and him went to get there surf boards. JJ's was white with three black lines going down the middle of it.
John B's was an off white with a realist border around it.

"You coming?" John B asked me and Pope.
"You guys go" I said
"Yah we'll stay here and chat" Pope smiled.
"Alright" JJ ran off with John B.

Me and Pope sat down on the port h watching them surf through the screen.
"So how's your mom and dad?" I asked.
"There good." He looked away from the beach and at me.
"What about yours when are they coming up?" He asked.

I didn't say anything and just stayed silent.
Then I spoke.
"Um, I don't know yet. I think soon." I smiled at him.
"Cool" He said looking back at JJ and John B.
"Do they always do this when there's a storm coming?" I laughed.
"Yah, pretty much." He laughed too.

A couple minutes later John B and JJ came out of the water and back to the house.
"I'm going to take a shower." John B said.
"Ok we'll I should probably get going grams will be pissed." I stood up and hugged him and Pope.
"Could I catch a ride with you?" JJ asked
"Yah no problem" I smiled back at him.

We got in the car and started to head to grams and wherever JJ was going.
"J, where do you want me to drop you off? Home?" I asked finally.
"NO! Not there Um I don't know." He sighed.
"You can stay with me while the storm passes." I Niger him and smiled. He smiled back and said,
"Thanks Lil." He looked at me and then back out the window.

Some time later we stop to get some food before the storm hits and then continue our drive. Grams won't be happy with me. I thought to myself, I told her I would go back yesterday and I didn't. But I will talk with her and then me and JJ will go in my room and watch some TV.

When we finally arrived to Grams house I exhaled nervously. We got out of the car and when we reached the porch I stopped.
"JJ, can you stay here for a sec while I talk to grams?" I asked.
"Yah sure." He gave me a comforting smile assuring that everything was fine.

I took a deep breath and opened the door. I looked around for a second.
"Grams?!" I called out.
"LILY!" She came from her room.
"Where have you been!? I've tried to text you and call?!" She was upset.
"Grams let me explain! My phone died and I left the charger here!" I said.
"Well if you came back when you were supposed to then it wouldn't have died!" She yelled again.

JJ's POV:

I could here them arguing from out side. But I just sat there in an old rocking chair listening to them. I wanted to just stop her from blaming everything on Lily but I couldn't.

I passed back and forth until I heard something break. I was startled.  I tried to look through the windows but the curtains were closed.

So I knocked on the door and waited. Maybe I could distract them from their bickering. Then I heard her grams yell again.

"Who is that?!" Said her grams.
"I brought JJ with me because he had nowhere else to go before the storm!" Lily yelled back.
"He does have somewhere to go Lily! He has a home!" Her grams was getting mad.
"Well maybe you should do a rain check before you make that statement." Lily said.

Then the door opened and Lily let me inside.
"Let's go J" Lily pulled me along.
"Good day ma'am" I said bowing an imaginary hat off my head, I saw a broken glass on the floor. Then we headed off to Lily's room.

Back To Lily's story:

I brought JJ into me room and shut the door. I put my head against it and then turned to see JJ coming up and hugging me. I  buried my face into his shoulder and we stood there for a minute or two.

I let go of him and looked at my bed that was withholding the snacks.

"Wanna watch a movie?" I asked.
"Sure, like what?" He said jumping on to my bed. I laughed.
"You like Harry Potter still?" I say next to him turn the TV on with the remote.
"Are you kidding me of course" He took the remote an turned the Prisoner of Azkaban.

"This is my favorite one! You remembered?" I looked at him astonished.
"Of course. I mean it's my favorite too!" He chuckled a little.

After a bit before the storm had hit we ate snacks and watched almost all the Harry Potter movies while imitating the characters. But then as we were watching the Half-Blood Prince when the power went out. I got up and flipped the light switch up and down. Nothing happened.

"I guess the storm shut the power off." I said jumping back into the bed.
"Well it is late we should get to bed." JJ said.
"Your right." I agreed.

I set a bed up for JJ on the floor and then went into the kitchen to get us water.
When I put the cup under the water filter in the fridge nothing came out. I kept on trying to get some water out but there was still nothing but a dry cup.

"There's no water." Grams startled me.
"Grams! W-were have you been?" I looked down at the cup in my hands.
"I went out. I needed to vent after the fight we had. I know I just left without a warning but-"
I cut her off with a hug.

"I'm so sorry." I apologized.
She hugged me back and we stood there.
"So are we cool now?" I smiled at her letting go of our hug.
"Yes we are." Smiled back at me.
We  laughed while standing in the dark.
"So your back for three days and already brought JJ Maybank home with you?" She smirked and nudged my shoulder.
"Grams! It's not like that.." I giggled.
"I'm sure it's not" she said sarcastically.

I said goodnight to grams and went back down the hall. Before I opened my door grams stopped me.
"Oh and Lily, next time just ask me to bring him home ok." She winked and went into her room. I shook my head and then went into my room. JJ was already asleep so I quietly got into bed and went to sleep. Hopefully this storm isn't as bad as I think.
