David Mackamore is a simple man living near a big city, the city of Northwood, which despite its name, is closer to the equator and nowhere near anyplace cold. It boasts a lovely community, a reasonable police force, and most importantly, pokemon.

Pokemon are fantastical creatures that hold powers beyond that of man. Still, somehow, a sort of harmony was created between these two very different species that resided on the planet. Since ancient times, people have used pokemon for combat, training, and... blood sport. However, that dark part of history is long past, and it was agreed not to have that part of history be taught and told about due to its gritty nature.

Now in many places throughout the world, various regions host a specific variety of pokemon, ranging from minor differences to bigger ones.

So what makes David so unique in this magical world? Well, nothing really, as all he has is a troubled past that he is trying to cast off himself and is trying to pay the bills of adulthood.

Sure he had the option to become a pokemon trainer, but the age limit got pushed back to 18 since kids just leaving their homes at a young age to fight and put themselves in harm's way led to a few accidents, and some made national news...

So instead of fighting in gym battles in the hope of becoming branded as the most muscular pokemon trainer David instead decided to become a productive member of society, at least that is what he keeps telling himself since he can't do anything else.

When the age limit got pushed back to 18 for trainer requirements, he wanted just to wait till he turned 18 to go on his adventure, but life had other plans, and due to that, there were things that he could not just run away from.

Now then, let us get along with the story.
