"You know David, I tried stopping him from firing you," The site manager says, trying to provide David some comfort while handing in David's last paycheck.
"Yeah... thank you, sir," David says before he takes his last paycheck and goes to the break room to grab the usual supply of donuts and bagels before heading for the park.
It was noon now, meaning that David had about ten hours till he had to work at the convenience store, so he went to where he usually goes after working at the site.
"Ducklet?"
"Farfetched?"
The Pokemon living in the park were surprised to see David show up so early in the day, but they were still happy to see him, and he needed to relax.
"Here you are, guys. Eat up," David says as he sits on a bench before feeding the Pokemon.
"Ducklet?" One of the Ducklet says, seeing that something is bothering David
"..."
The Ducklet moves to David and hops into his lap before taking a seat there and dragging David's hand with its beak onto its head.
David begins to pet the Ducklet's head, seeing as that was what it wanted, plus he wanted something to take his mind off being fired from his job. It sucked since now he would have to find a job someplace else; however, David knew that he could not find many jobs in the city that would hire him due to who he was and his lack of education.
Still, though, he could forget about that since he got his paycheck early, so it would be enough for him to live off for maybe a week at most if he used everything sparingly, but then again, when did he not?
"Mr. Mackamore?" A voice calls out to David
Turning around, he saw it was the mayor's daughter again, and this time, she was still being followed by the two muscle heads from last night wearing identical suits as last night.
"Yes, Mrs. Jupiter?" David responds while he continues to pet the Ducklet's head
"Well, Mr. Mackamore, I just happened to be passing by and seeing you here. Would you mind me joining you?"
The two behind her gave knowing looks showing that she had indeed not passed by and noticed him, which meant she was probably trying to find him for some reason.
"Sure, have a seat," David says while patting the bench spot next to where he was sitting.
A slight blush creeps on her face as she recalls what he wore when he returned home last night, and that is on her mind as she takes the seat next to him.
She waves to the other two to go off to the side, and they do move out of earshot but close enough in case anything happens that they can intervene if needed.
The two of them just sit there for a moment as David sits there petting the Ducklet while also feeding the other Pokemon and the one in his lap.
"So why were you looking for me?" David says, breaking the silence
"Well, as I said, I was passing by and happened to-"
"Yeah, I ain't buying it, so tell me, what do you want?" David says as he looks dead set on her
"..."
"What? Meowth got your tongue?" David asks her
"No, but... I am sorry!" She springs out of nowhere as she gets on her knees
"What..." David asks, unsure of what is going on
"Last night, when you handed over your payment for the month, I was going to turn it in this morning; however, when I woke up and checked my locked drawer, I could not find it anywhere. I am so sorry!"
