David didn't know what to think about Zoroark's mentality, considering that, from what it looked like, she had done all this to fight David.
What the hell?
David was at a loss for words before he turned to Gardevior to see what she was thinking, and she looked confused like him.
"I'm sorry... what?" David asks, not getting at what this Zoroark game was
"ZOROARK!!!"
The Zoroark was clearly saying something, but David could not understand her, so he had to look to Gardevior for a translation.
'Um... I don't understand why, but the Zoroark says it wants to continue the fight between you...' Gardevior translates, albeit quite confused.
David still looks very confused. That makes no sense since he was defending himself from the Pokémon attacks and landed a few blows against the Zoroark. However, why would they even want to fight him?
As prey, no less; does that mean he would be eaten?!
Sure, there were cases of rabid Pokemon and those more malicious that had gained a taste for human flesh, but law enforcement and other personnel handled those quickly enough.
Though right now, he was so deep in the woods that any remains of himself, if there were some, would not be found at all. Plus, no one would care if he went missing, so that stray thought dampened his mood.
Still, thinking about how things had played out thus far, it was fair to assume that the Zoroark pack was only here for him for some strange reason, which meant if he didn't act. Those remaining Pokemon from the community here might get hurt or worse, so this outcome rested on his shoulders.
Seeing as David didn't want anyone to get hurt and pain to him was a bittersweet friend with him daily, it would be best to go along with it for now.
Plus, it wasn't like David would be fighting against the entire Zoroark pack, just this one that had been talking right now... hopefully.
"Gardevior, can you please translate for me as we talk?" David asks
With a slight nod from Gardevior, David lists off a few things for this weird one-on-one.
He wanted a more in-depth explanation as to why he was suddenly challenged to a fight after he had just defended himself. As far as he was aware, no one got hurt by the Zoroarks by himself or any outside Pokemon he had with him at the time, which was a miracle.
His only answer was silence and a defying glare from the Zoroark, almost as if trying to say that he did not deserve to know.
So he moved on to set up the ground rules for the one-on-one since he was being challenged and was not a Pokemon. Of course, he asked for no Pokemon moves.
The Zoroark argued against it, and an agreement was settled for no offensive moves; however, buffs, debuffs, and defensive moves could be used.
The fight would go on until one was knocked unconscious or gave up, which was fair and straightforward.
Now, as for what the victor would gain, David was hesitant to ask since he had no idea what the Zoroark wanted from him in the first place, and the only reason he was in this situation was that he was the Zoroarks 'prey.
Plus, even if he were to win, he would be unsure what he wanted since he was generally one to give what he could and not take; plus, they were also Pokemon, so it was doubtful any of them had something he would want.
So he just mentioned that the winner should be able to take something from the loser, which was answered with a curt head nod and nothing more, making this whole ordeal more one-sided than it ought to be.
