Chapter 1

Honestly, today has probably been the worst day I've had in a long time. Don't take that the wrong way, the days before this hasn't been that great either but still. Slipping on ice in the middle of a busy crowded area outside, missing the bus after my car decided not to start and missing my flight to California ending up as the result.

Plus I am having a bad hair day. My chocolaty brown hair looked like I had just walked through a hurricane. Thankfully I was able to compromise it into looking decent in a bun.

Anyways, as I walked through the last plane to California, I looked for my seat number. When I finally reached it, I looked around. The seats were blue and there were three connected together. They looked comfortable enough.

Sighing, I grabbed both of my luggages and tried to push them inside the compartment things above my head. I have no idea what it is actually called but I was struggling with reaching the lid to shut it. The only logically thing I could think of to do was jump and try to slam it closed. So that's what I did....about five times and failed. Cursing under my breath, I glared at the damn thing.

Being 5'4 it's disadvantages.

“Having trouble?” A deep mocking voice said behind me. It was so sudden and unexpected that I jumped, my heart beating fast and my face turning red. Since I was having a bad day my natural instinct was to get angry and begin yelling at the stranger. I mean he did just scare me half to death and maybe it had a little to do with the fact that I got embarrassed. Maybe.

But when I turned around, my mouth open and ready to begin yelling and screaming, my anger quickly disappeared and became forgotten as I stared up at a very attractive smirking man. Who ever he was I was certain he was about the same age as me. He wore a backwards snap back with short black hair escaping from the bottom. The tank top he wore did an amazing job of showing off his athletic build and it was extremely obvious that he worked out. To top off the outfit he wore a some baggy skinny jeans with a pair of nice sneakers. His skin was tan and his brown eyes were to die for.

Luckily, I'm not one to swoon and fall so easily. But of course, that didn't stop me from stammering.

“U-uh,” I cursed myself, “Yeah. I mean I can't get it to close.” I said gesturing towards that evil white compartment above me. “Too short to reach.” I quickly explained. Which made me realize his height. He had to be at least 5'9.

Glancing behind me to the seat number plastered there, he nodded and his smirk turned into a smile. A nice smile to be honest.

“Look's like we'll be sitting together for the trip.” I got excited and nervous at the same time and I didn't know exactly what to say so I just settled with a big smile and a 'great!'.

“My name's Wesley by the way.” He stated holding out his hand.

“Kimberly.” I replied back and shook his hand as we smiled at each other.

“Excuse me,” an annoyed heavy set old woman said from beside us. Me and Wesley dropped our hands and looked over at her. She did not look happy at all. In fact she looked ready to go on a rampage.

“Sorry about that.” Wesley mumbled as we both squeezed closer to the seats to let her pass. As she did so she mumbled about how we were so disrespectful to be standing inside in the middle of the isle. When she was out of ear shot I whispered to Wesley, “We weren't even taking up the whole isle.”
