Chapter 17
The next morning I woke up to the bed shifting underneath me. Opening my eyes I saw Wesley's back as he sat up on the edge of the bed. I shifted my body so that I was sitting with my back and head resting against the headboard.
I watched as Wesley lifted himself off the bed and stretched his arms over his head. His back muscles rippled as a result and I mentally screamed. Yawning, I covered my mouth and that's when Wesley turned around and saw me. There was a small smile on his face.
“Good morning beautiful.” He said, walking over to his closet. I frowned at his greeting. If it had been a different situation maybe than I would have enjoyed it a whole lot more. Why does he have to keep making this so much harder for me? Oh right, he loves me. Or at least that's what he confessed last night. Instead of inwardly groaning, which is what I meant to do, I outwardly groaned before very lightly hitting the back of my head on the headboard.
Wes noticed. He stopped what he was doing and turned his body so he could look at me. With one eyebrow raised he spoke. “You okay?” The words came out slowly as if he was afraid to ask.
“Yeah, I'm fine.” I said. “Just thinking about how Keaton must be doing.” I half lied. I was worried about Keaton but that wasn't the reason why I did what I did.
“Oh...well he should be doing fine. I'm gonna go visit him later. You should come.” Wes said turning back to his closet.
“I don't know Wes.” I said climbing off the bed and moving to the edge of it still facing him.
“Why not?” He asked. By the way he asked I knew that he knew the answer to his own question. I sighed.
“Because I'm-”
“If you say that it is your fault that Keaton is in the hospital one more time I swear I'm going to...” he paused searching for the right words. He slightly turned to me still thinking.
“What?” I asked trying to cover up the small smile threatening to graze my lips.
“I'm gonna-” he said again before looking at me seriously. “...I don't know! But I'm going to do something!”
I laughed at his lame threat and he smiled in return.
“But you are going.” Wes stated as he closed the doors to his closet with an outfit in his hand. “I'm gonna take a shower. It'll be quick. When I'm done you can jump in while I make us a small breakfast. After we'll head to the hospital.” Wes said as he stopped at the doorway looking at me.
“Well don't you have everything planned out?” I mocked still sitting down. He smirked.
“I'm a man of many plans.”
I laughed at how corny he sounded.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah just go take a shower plan man.” I said. Wes gave me one last smile before he disappeared. Instantly I looked down at my lap. Wes may have had plans made today but he wasn’t the only one. Last night while he was sleeping I was planning things in my head too.
I decided that today I would have as much fun as I could with everyone. I knew that today would be the last day I would see them, either for a long time or forever. Tonight I was going to meet up with Collin and just go with him wherever he wanted to go. I can't keep putting my feelings in front of other people's safety.
Shaking my head I leaned back on the bed and let the worrying thoughts drift out of my mind for now. Even though I knew Collin was going to win by midnight tonight I could still try and feel a bit of happiness before he ruined it.
