Chapter 8
To put it simply, Emblem3 is an amazing band. Their songs are up lifting and fun to listen to. Inside of the bar they were a big hit. They were so good that people had actually started chanting for an encore. By the time they were done playing it was 10:30 and people were beginning to leave.
Tori was the first to get up from our table and make her way to the back were the boys would now be. Following her I mentally sang one of their songs in my head. It was just too catchy.
When we reached the boys they were laughing and talking to each other.
“Dude, tonight was so dope!” Drew exclaimed, high fiving Keaton. Wes agreed before giving daps to the excited blue eyed blonde.
“You guys were amazing!” I said.
“Like always.” Tori added in.
“Babe,” Drew started, putting his guitar back into it's case, “come back to my place tonight?”
Tori nodded in agreement. “Kim, you coming too?” I thought over that for a second. Should I? Most likely I would be spending most of my time with Wesley. What happens if what happened the other night happens again?! I can't risk that. Not when I know that I could be putting him in danger.
“Uh-” I started, ready to decline her offer.
“No.” Wesley said cutting me off and answering for me. I snapped my head towards him and I couldn't fight that twinge of hurt that passed through my chest. He didn't want me to hang out with him? “We're going out tonight. You three go ahead.”
Half of me wanted to sigh in relief and jump for joy. Wes did still want to be around me. The other half, the one that wanted him safe, didn't feel the same.
Before I could cut in and protest anything, everyone started saying their goodbyes and getting ready to leave.
“Wait-” I said to Tori. She purposely ignored me.
“See ya! Have fun you two!” She finished with a wink. Moments later Drew, Tori and Keaton were gone and I was left alone with Wesley. Mentally I sighed in frustration.
“So, where are we going?” I asked. The only answer I got was a sly smirk.
When Wes was all packed up and ready to go he led us to his car but didn't get in. The only thing he did was throw his stuff in the back seat.
“I was thinking,” he turned to face me, “that we go down to the beach.” The way he said it sounded like a question.
“This late?” I asked.
“Yup.” He answered.
“Well, Okay.”
We walked in silence. Not many people were around, very few actually. That made me nervous. It would be too easy for Collin to-stop! I need to stop thinking about him. He can't plague my thoughts every time I do something! Wesley's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
“So, anything interesting happen since yesterday?”
Just the fact that my crazy ex-boyfriend is back.
“Nope.” I replied. “What about you?”
“Not really.”
After that we slipped into an uncomfortable silence. Neither of us knew what to say.
“You're unusually quiet today.” Wes pointed out. “Everything okay?”
I didn't expect that. If I really told him what was going through my head it would go something like this; my abusive ex boyfriend has somehow been released from jail early and he hasn't given up on me yet after all these years. He has also apparently found me and now that puts you in danger because he is very possessive and has no remorse for hurting someone, especially when it comes to me. Wesley, hanging out with me is dangerous and I honestly think it would be best if you were to stay away.
